About the role
You will own the compensation philosophy and architecture that defines how Safe values work across the organization. You will design and manage total rewards, benefits, and people operations to ensure consistency and fairness across all teams. You will lead the implementation of AI tools that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of People & Culture initiatives. This role requires you to build scalable infrastructure that supports the company's growth from its current stage toward a $250 million annual recurring revenue target. You will partner closely with executive leadership to align people strategies with business objectives. You will be responsible for translating complex compensation data into clear frameworks that managers can easily apply. Your work will establish the foundation for hiring and retaining top talent across GTM, Product, and Development. You will ensure that all people systems are reliable, auditable, and capable of supporting rapid scaling.

What you'll do
Design and maintain the compensation philosophy and architecture that determines pay positioning, market competitiveness, and pay ranges for all roles at Safe.
Build job architecture, leveling frameworks, and banding structures from first principles to support current and future hiring needs across the organization.
Own the end-to-end management of the annual compensation cycle, including merit planning, profit sharing, variable compensation, and calibration inputs.
Partner with the CRO, Finance, and business leaders to design variable pay structures, OTE models, and quota frameworks aligned with business goals.
Own the strategy and execution of benefits programs, including plan design, vendor selection, and annual open enrollment for a multi-country workforce.
Lead benefits and compensation strategies specifically for EMEA and US regions in preparation for international growth and statutory compliance.
Create clear and actionable total rewards communications, such as comp statements and benefits guides, to ensure employees understand their pay and the rationale behind it.
Establish the HRIS as the authoritative source of data for all people operations, ensuring data integrity, workflow automation, and seamless integration with payroll and other systems.
Develop reporting and analytics infrastructure that provides accurate insights into attrition, pay equity, and calibration outcomes for business leaders.
Eliminate process debt by identifying manual tasks in onboarding, data entry, and approvals and automating them to save time and reduce errors.
Serve as the internal expert on AI tools for compensation modeling, people operations workflows, and data analysis to support HR team adoption.
Lead the organization-wide adoption of AI within People & Culture by piloting tools, documenting workflows, and scaling successful solutions.
Collaborate with HR Business Partners to ensure that compensation infrastructure, data, and tools meet their needs and enable effective employee conversations.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of compensation regulations and best practices to guide Safe's people policies in different jurisdictions.
Requirements
You must have a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
You must have a minimum of seven years of experience in human resources, with at least three years focused on compensation and total rewards.
You must have hands-on experience managing compensation programs, including pay equity analysis, market benchmarking, and salary administration.
You must be experienced in managing benefits programs and vendor relationships in a multi-country environment.
You must have demonstrated ability to manage HRIS platforms such as Workday, including data configuration, reporting, and integration with payroll systems.
You must have strong experience with modeling variable compensation plans and designing sales and executive incentive programs.
You must have experience implementing HR technology and automation initiatives that improve process efficiency and data accuracy.
You must have excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate complex compensation data into clear recommendations for non-HR stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience with AI tools and platforms relevant to HR, compensation, and people operations.
Experience in fast-growth, venture-backed, or private equity-owned technology companies.
Experience managing international employment law and statutory benefits considerations for EMEA and North America.
Practical notes
This role is based in British Columbia and requires in-person work during standard business hours.
Travel is not required for this position.
