About the role
The role involves owning the end-to-end execution of marketing initiatives that drive awareness and conversion for onX products. You will own the strategy, execution, and measurement of campaigns across the entire customer journey from discovery to retention. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams including product, design, and engineering to ensure alignment on goals and messaging. You will leverage data and experimentation to iterate quickly and optimize performance over time. You will act as the day-to-day expert for your area of ownership, making decisions and prioritizing work based on impact and urgency. You will communicate progress, insights, and roadblocks clearly and proactively to stakeholders. You will use modern tooling and first principles thinking to solve ambiguous problems without a clear playbook. You will contribute to building a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement within the marketing organization.

What you'll do
- Conduct discovery and synthesis of user needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform marketing strategy and positioning.
- Translate business and product objectives into integrated marketing campaigns that drive measurable outcomes across the customer journey.
- Define and own key performance indicators, establishing baselines, targets, and reporting cadence to enable data-driven decisions.
- Design and execute experiments across channels and creative concepts, applying statistical thinking to evaluate results and iterate.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to develop messaging frameworks, positioning, and go-to-market plans for new features and verticals.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reporting structures that provide visibility into performance and guide optimization opportunities.
- Partner with sales and customer success to understand objections, use cases, and outcomes in order to refine value propositions.
- Manage marketing budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring efficient allocation and alignment with business priorities.
- Represent onX in external forums and customer conversations, ensuring consistent branding and thought leadership.
- Maintain a pulse on industry trends, tools, and best practices, proposing improvements to processes and technology.
- Work closely with engineering to implement tracking, events, and automation that support measurement and personalization.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into stories that inform stakeholders and guide strategic pivots.
- Prioritize work in a fast-moving environment, balancing competing demands and shifting context with clarity and resilience.
- Mentor and influence peers by sharing learnings, frameworks, and playbooks that raise the standard of execution.
Requirements
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, as we are unable to provide work authorization at this time.
- You must be located in or be willing to relocate to Missoula, Montana, United States, as this role requires in-person presence at our headquarters.
- You must have at least three years of experience in marketing roles, demonstrating a track record of owning end-to-end initiatives.
- You must have a strong understanding of digital marketing channels, including but not limited to search, social, email, and content.
- You must be comfortable working with data, analytics tools, and dashboards to derive insights and make decisions.
- You must have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
- You must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and verbally, to diverse audiences.
- You must be comfortable operating in ambiguity, making timely decisions with incomplete information, and adapting quickly to change.
Nice to have
- Experience with experimentation frameworks, causal inference, or growth methodologies that enable structured optimization.
- Familiarity with outdoor, recreation, or location-based industries, including an understanding of map and location data products.
- Experience working with AI tools and workflows to augment marketing processes and content creation.
- Background in sales enablement, channel marketing, or partnership-driven go-to-market motions.
- Contributions to open source, community building, or public thought leadership in marketing or related fields.
