What you'll do
- Partner with business executives to design, negotiate, and finalize complex legal contracts that support the company's strategic objectives while mitigating risks.
- Provide actionable legal counsel to facilitate product launches and operational activities, ensuring adherence to privacy laws and regulatory requirements.
- Support litigation efforts, including managing discovery processes and liaising with both internal and external parties.

- Identify opportunities to enhance legal processes and workflows, improving efficiency as the organization expands.
- Advise on compliance matters, ensuring that all business practices align with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact the business.
- Develop and implement training programs for internal teams on legal best practices and compliance issues.
- Assist in the management of outside counsel and legal service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective legal support.
- Monitor and report on legal risks and issues to senior management, providing strategic recommendations for mitigation.
- Engage in cross-functional projects that require legal input, ensuring that legal considerations are integrated into business strategies.
- Maintain a proactive approach to identifying potential legal challenges and developing solutions that align with business goals.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar association.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, ideally combining both law firm and in-house roles.
- At least 3 years of experience in an in-house legal position within a software, technology, or consumer-focused organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
- Proven ability to serve as a primary legal advisor, managing legal issues from inception to resolution.
- Strong experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Marketing departments.
- Capacity to juggle multiple legal matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort working within a small legal team, contributing to both strategic initiatives and daily operations.
- Exceptional legal judgment and the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Strong communication skills to foster trust and collaboration with stakeholders across various functions.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage competing priorities effectively.
- A solutions-oriented approach that balances legal risks with business objectives.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and a curiosity about leveraging technology to enhance legal processes.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory.
- Willingness to travel biannually or quarterly for several days to corporate offices or other strategic locations.
