What you'll do
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript to support new banking features.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and gRPC services with NestJS that enable seamless communication between microservices.
- Optimize database queries and system architecture to handle large-scale financial transactions with low latency and high throughput.
- Integrate the application with AWS infrastructure, including managed databases, storage, and messaging services.
- Write and update technical documentation to ensure that new engineers can understand the system quickly and contribute effectively.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans.
- Participate in code reviews to share knowledge, enforce best practices, and improve the overall quality of the codebase.
- Troubleshoot production incidents by analyzing logs, metrics, and traces to identify root causes and deploy fixes rapidly.
- Implement security best practices to protect sensitive financial data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Explore and adopt new tools such as AI-assisted development environments like Claude Code and Cursor to boost productivity.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on coding standards, debugging techniques, and architectural decision-making.
- Coordinate with frontend and mobile teams using React Native to ensure that client and server changes are synchronized correctly.
- Plan and execute testing strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests for critical financial flows.
- Contribute to the long-term vision of the platform by identifying technical debt and proposing refactoring efforts that improve maintainability.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of 4 years of professional experience building and scaling significant products and services in a production environment.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to writing clean, maintainable code and communicating effectively with engineering peers.
- Show a proactive approach to identifying problems and taking initiative to solve them without needing constant direction.
- Exhibit an eagerness to continuously develop new skills and learn rapidly in a fast-evolving technological landscape.
- Have hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript to build reliable and performant server-side applications.
- Be proficient in using NestJS as a framework for structuring modular and testable backend services.
- Understand how microservices architecture works and how to design systems that are resilient and easy to operate.
- Be comfortable deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes clusters in a production environment.
- Have practical experience working with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, and IAM for infrastructure management.
- Be able to work legally in India and hold a valid passport or work authorization without the need for visa sponsorship.
- Have a strong understanding of data modeling and database design for both relational and NoSQL stores.
- Be comfortable using version control systems, particularly Git, to manage code changes and collaborate with distributed teams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of REST principles and API design patterns used in modern software development.
- Have experience debugging complex issues in distributed systems where multiple services interact asynchronously.

- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor in previous roles.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance requirements relevant to banking products.
