Platform Engineer, Builder Experience

About the role

This position focuses on creating the foundational platform services and developer frameworks essential for OnePay's advanced, distributed systems. You will play a key role in empowering engineers to build the next wave of intelligent, agent-driven applications. In this capacity, you are responsible for the architecture and execution of the core infrastructure that allows our product teams to move with speed and confidence. You own the design of internal systems that abstract complexity and provide reliable primitives for building financial services. Your work will directly influence the scalability and resilience of the platform that powers our business. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to translate high-level product requirements into robust technical solutions. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on implementation to ensure long-term maintainability. You will be a steward of code quality, reliability, and operational excellence across the engineering organization.

What you'll do

• Architect and maintain the core platform services that serve as the backbone for OnePay's large-scale distributed systems.
• Design and deliver internal developer tools and shared infrastructure components that elevate the efficiency, dependability, and insight of engineering teams.
• Build and iterate on frameworks specifically for constructing and coordinating agentic applications, enabling intelligent, automated workflows across our product suite.
• Streamline and optimize CI/CD processes, automation pipelines, and developer workflows to shorten deployment cycles and strengthen system reliability.
• Implement observability strategies and monitoring dashboards that provide actionable insights into platform health and performance.
• Partner with product and infrastructure teams to define standards for cloud architecture and service design.
• Lead initiatives to improve the reliability, scalability, and security of the platform through proactive refactoring and technical debt reduction.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their applicability for enhancing our internal tooling and development lifecycle.
• Write high-quality code and documentation that ensure clarity and ease of adoption for other developers.
• Drive the evolution of our development environment to support rapid prototyping and safe production deployments.
• Collaborate with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure platform implementations meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Act as a technical leader in troubleshooting complex issues that span services and teams.
• Contribute to the creation of best practices for building distributed systems within the company.
• Mentor engineers on the effective use of platform tools to maximize their impact.

Requirements

• Bring 2-9 years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on fintech, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale distributed systems.
• Demonstrate a proven history of building developer platforms, internal tools, or frameworks that measurably improve engineering productivity.
• Show a strong conceptual and practical grasp of distributed systems principles, asynchronous processing patterns, and highly available platform services.
• Have hands-on experience operating within AWS cloud environments and constructing cloud-native infrastructure components.
• Exhibit experience in designing and developing agentic developer tools that support automation, collaboration, or intelligent workflows.
• Possess significant background in building, managing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines to drive continuous integration and delivery improvements.
• Display a proactive, driven mentality with a builder and executor mindset that prioritizes delivery and follow-through.
• Have a deep commitment to writing clean, maintainable code and contributing to a healthy engineering culture.
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift based on business needs.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on goals and constraints.
• Understand the importance of security, compliance, and operational reliability in financial technology systems.
• Be located in the United States and eligible to work without sponsorship for this role.
