This role provides technical leadership and implementation that directly drives outcomes for high-scale lending products. You will guide architecture and delivery for systems that serve millions of customers across the lending lifecycle. The position requires ownership of full lifecycles, from initial product exploration through to production operation and iterative improvement. You will work closely with product, design, and operations to translate business strategy into robust, scalable engineering solutions. The focus is on building reliable, secure, and high-performing systems within regulated consumer finance environments. Success is measured by your ability to explain complex technical decisions in plain language to diverse stakeholders. You will spend time planning, conducting code reviews, and debugging, ensuring quality is built in from the start. What you'll do
Architect and implement backend services and distributed systems that power core lending workflows and decisioning engines.
Design and enforce standards for code quality, performance, and reliability across large-scale lending initiatives to ensure consistency and maintainability.
Collaborate with product, design, and operations partners to define and deliver end-to-end lending product strategies through precise engineering execution.
Optimize systems for regulated consumer finance workloads to achieve high levels of reliability, security, and scalability under demanding conditions.
Balance rapid delivery with sustainable, maintainable solutions by making technical decisions that support both speed and long-term product health.
Leverage modern frontend frameworks to build responsive client applications for web, iOS, and Android, often using React Native for cross-platform efficiency.
Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor to enhance engineering workflows and accelerate feature development.
Analyze complex problems in payments, lending, or other regulated domains to design robust APIs and data-intensive services that meet regulatory and business needs.
Work within fast-moving, urgent cultures by taking initiative and adapting quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining clear communication with cross-functional partners.

Drive the design and evolution of systems infrastructure to support embedded finance and direct lending products that reach millions of consumers.

Requirements
Experience building and scaling distributed systems, high-throughput APIs, or data-intensive services is required with an 8+ year background in relevant domains.
Full-stack engineering proficiency must be demonstrated through strong backend architecture skills and expertise with modern frontend frameworks.
You must have a proven track record of designing and working on reliable, secure, and high-performing systems, often within payments, lending, or other regulated consumer finance domains.
Clear communication and effective collaboration are essential when working with cross-functional partners in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.
An initiative-driven mindset and a commitment to growth are necessary to adapt quickly and contribute successfully within high-performing engineering teams.
A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience is required to ensure readiness for complex technical responsibilities and leadership expectations.
Demonstrated ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code that supports long-term product stability and scalability.
Comfort working in environments where requirements evolve rapidly and solutions must be delivered with speed and precision.
Nice to have
Experience in payments, lending, or regulated consumer finance domains is present and can provide context for domain-specific challenges.
Familiarity with technologies commonly used in fintech environments, such as Node, TypeScript, NestJS, Kubernetes, AWS, and React Native.
