About the role
Olsson is on the lookout for a Senior Civil Designer specializing in grading and utility design for data center initiatives. In this role, you will work alongside a skilled team to develop designs for expansive data center campuses and colocation facilities. Your knowledge and experience will play a crucial role in crafting innovative design solutions that fulfill client requirements and contribute to major engineering projects.

What you'll do
- Partner with licensed engineers to generate comprehensive plans and calculations that meet project specifications.
- Employ Civil 3D and CAD software to autonomously design utility systems and surfaces, ensuring precision and efficiency throughout the design process.
- Develop and oversee designs that encompass Pipe Networks, Pressure Pipe Networks, and Surfaces, including Corridors and Feature Lines.
- Engage in projects that typically vary in size from 20 acres to over 200 acres, providing significant design input.
- Conduct thorough analyses of surface designs and utility layouts to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that design objectives align with overall project goals.
- Review and revise designs based on feedback and evolving project requirements, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in civil design and data center development to enhance project outcomes.
Requirements
- An Associate's degree in drafting, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 8 years of professional experience in drafting and design, specifically within the civil engineering sector.
- Strong proficiency in Civil 3D software is a must for this position.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated experience in surface creation, utility design, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination is required.
- A solid understanding of grading principles and utility infrastructure is necessary for success in this role.
Nice to have
- Previous involvement in large-scale data center projects is advantageous and will be viewed favorably.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices in civil engineering is a plus.
- Experience with project management software or tools can enhance your application.

- The compensation for this role is aligned with the salary structure of our Colorado office and is contingent upon the candidate's experience and qualifications.
- The salary range for this position is between $78,000 and $103,000 USD. Actual pay may differ based on factors such as experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
