About the role
The Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering role is a strategic leadership position responsible for guiding the IMETA Solutions Engineering team based in Dublin. You will be at the forefront of managing and developing a group dedicated to identity infrastructure and security within the WEMEA region. This position requires a dual focus on people and technology: you will manage the professional growth and mentorship of your team while simultaneously driving the technical strategy that supports rapid regional expansion. A core part of this role is translating complex technical concepts into compelling narratives for enterprise stakeholders. You will balance hands-on technical contribution with high-level strategic oversight to ensure team success. This involves partnering closely with sales, product, and customer success teams to shape the customer journey and influence deal outcomes. Your role is pivotal in establishing and maintaining the technical credibility of Okta's portfolio throughout the WEMEA region. You will leverage your expertise to remove impediments and enable the team to deliver exceptional value to customers. What you'll do
- Lead and Mentor: Oversee and mentor the IMETA Solutions Engineering staff, focusing on their professional growth and technical development.
- Drive Technical Strategy: Direct technical strategy to support regional growth and customer identity requirements, ensuring alignment with Okta's vision.
- Cultivate a Learning Culture: Foster a culture of continuous learning and collaborative problem solving within the team.
- Secure AI and Human Identity: Align team output with the broader mission of securing AI and human identity, making strategic decisions that support this objective.
- Own Solution Delivery: Assume ownership of the end-to-end delivery of complex identity and security solutions for strategic customers in the IMETA region.
- Architect Value Propositions: Architect and refine the technical storylines that underpin our value propositions, ensuring they align with customer business objectives and industry trends.
- Build Stakeholder Relationships: Cultivate deep relationships with key decision-makers by demonstrating thought leadership in Identity and Access Management (IAM) and security domains.
- Diagnose and Architect: Diagnose customer environments to identify gaps and architect tailored solutions that leverage the Okta platform effectively.
- Influence Product Roadmap: Collaborate with Product Management to provide critical field feedback that influences roadmap priorities and feature enhancements.
- Develop Methodologies: Develop and maintain a robust playbook of battle-tested methodologies and best practices for solution engineering engagements.
- Evaluate Emerging Tech: Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and industry developments to ensure the team remains at the forefront of the identity landscape.
- Create Technical Artifacts: Drive the creation of compelling technical artifacts, such as proposals, proof-of-concept plans, and executive briefings.
- Analyze Solution Performance: Monitor and analyze solution performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization.
- Support Negotiations: Act as a key technical advisor during high-stakes negotiations, supporting the sales team with credibility and expertise.
- Mentor Team Members: Mentor Solution Engineers in the region, elevating their technical proficiency and consultative selling skills.
- Champion Frameworks: Champion the adoption of Okta's security and identity frameworks across all customer interactions.
- Partner with Customer Success: Partner with Customer Success to ensure smooth onboarding and long-term adoption of implemented solutions.
- Manage Technical Capacity: Forecast and manage the technical capacity requirements of the team to meet business demands.
Requirements
- Management Experience: Demonstrated experience managing a team or leading pre-sales or solutions engineering activities in a technology environment.
- IAM Expertise: Possess a strong background in Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts, technologies, and best practices.
- Location Requirement: Show the ability to work consistently from the Dublin office location.
- Problem-Solving Track Record: Exhibit a track record of solving complex technical problems for enterprise customers.
- Translate Features to Benefits: Prove capability in translating technical product features into business benefits for diverse audiences.
- Operational Agility: Display comfort in operating effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing organization.
