What you'll do
Develop and execute territory and account strategies in collaboration with account executives to maximize the Okta opportunity within key enterprise accounts.
Conduct in-depth research and discovery to understand customer requirements and clearly communicate the business value of solving identity and security problems using cloud technology.
Execute the delivery of proof-of-concept implementations for customers with complex use cases, working closely with Okta engineering teams to ensure successful outcomes.
Craft technical content that illustrates how to implement specific identity use cases or standard methodologies for emerging technologies like AI-driven access.
Prepare and deliver high-impact demonstrations that showcase how the Okta platform addresses customer business needs, security requirements, and strategic initiatives.
Distill and communicate intricate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to influence product direction.
Champion Zero Trust and Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles, including SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and LDAP, within customer conversations.
Showcase deep expertise in lifecycle management, role-based access control (RBAC), and provisioning/deprovisioning to secure the identity lifecycle end-to-end.
Leverage hands-on experience with web, mobile, and backend development, as well as IP-based real-time communications, to address diverse technical environments.
Demonstrate mastery of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP to advise customers on secure and scalable identity architectures.
Educate highly skilled audiences, including IT admins, CISOs, architects, procurement, and legal, with confident and precise dispensing of knowledge.
Maintain a strong understanding of core security concerns such as password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, and XSRF within identity solutions.
Operate effectively in a hybrid work model, with typically 10-25% travel to customer sites and Okta offices across Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other U.S. locations.
Complete in-person onboarding and travel to an office in the U.S. during the first week of employment to integrate with the team and absorb foundational knowledge.
Requirements
Possess 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience in a customer-facing role such as consulting or solutions engineering.
Show a demonstrated passion to serve the customer, with a track record of success in roles that involve advising and educating stakeholders.
Exhibit elite communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly through presentations, slides, and whiteboard sessions.
Have a strong, working understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM), including SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and LDAP.
Display expertise in lifecycle management, role-based access control (RBAC), and the full provisioning and deprovisioning of digital identities.
Maintain a strong grasp of Zero Trust Architecture and foundational security concerns within applications, including password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-site request forgery (XSRF).
Bring hands-on experience in one or more of the following development areas: web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, frontend frameworks), mobile development (iOS, Android), backend development (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby), or IP-based real-time communications.
Have familiarity with major cloud platforms, specifically AWS, Azure, and GCP, and the ability to discuss secure identity architectures within those environments.
Be an elite communicator who can identify, map, and manage multiple personas, from IT administrators and CISOs to architects, procurement, and legal teams.
Comfortably dispense knowledge to highly skilled and experienced audiences, maintaining credibility and trust in technical discussions.
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a comparable field that provides a strong technical foundation.
