About the role
Numeral is an AI-native tax platform helping digital businesses navigate complex global regulations across 70 countries and 47 states. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to establish a scalable financial foundation as we move past our early-stage processes. You will report to the Controller and take ownership of daily accounting operations while preparing the company for future audits. You will drive the execution of close activities with an emphasis on accuracy and timely delivery. This position requires a proactive mindset to identify risks and implement controls before issues escalate. You will act as a key liaison between technical, sales, and finance stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial outcomes. The role involves mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.

What you'll do
- Orchestrate the end-to-end monthly close process, ensuring adherence to strict deadlines and calendar maintenance for all fiscal periods.
- Execute complex journal entries and perform in-depth flux analysis to explain variances and drive integrity in the general ledger.
- Reconcile intricate balance sheet accounts including cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and payroll liabilities.
- Apply ASC 606 standards rigorously to revenue recognition policies and associated billing workflows to ensure compliance.
- Oversee the full spectrum of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing procedures, and proactive collections efforts.
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success teams to manage contract accounting updates and resolve billing inquiries with precision.
- Spearhead finance systems migrations and author detailed technical documentation to support rigorous audit readiness and SOX compliance.
- Leverage advanced AI tools to automate repetitive manual tasks and enhance the efficiency of accounting workflows and reporting.
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls and process documentation to support scalability and risk mitigation.
- Analyze financial trends and prepare insights for management discussions to guide strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to ensure tax calculations, filings, and reporting align with global regulations.
- Maintain ownership of financial data integrity, ensuring accuracy in reporting systems and external filings.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing timely, accurate, and transparent financial analysis.
- Mentor junior accounting staff to build a high-performing team aligned with the company's growth objectives.
Requirements
- Bring 5 to 8+ years of cumulative accounting experience, ideally blending public accounting exposure with work at a high-growth SaaS organization.
- Demonstrate deep proficiency in US GAAP and practical application of ASC 606 standards in a SaaS context.
- Show a proven ability to manage the full order-to-cash cycle, from contract validation to cash application and reconciliation.
- Exhibit a consistent track record of creating clean, audit-ready workpapers that meet external auditor expectations.
- Possess advanced capabilities in Google Sheets or Excel for handling large data sets, complex modeling, and automated reporting.
- Highlight strong communication skills for effectively interacting with non-finance departments and translating technical concepts into actionable insights.
- Embrace a hands-on approach to building repeatable processes in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
- Show willingness to engage in tasks that require attention to detail and ownership of process improvement initiatives.

- Bring experience with ERP and modern finance software such as NetSuite, Rillet, Campfire, or QuickBooks to accelerate system adoption.
- Demonstrate familiarity with spend management and payment tools including Ramp, Brex, and Stripe for streamlined operations.
- Show background with CRM and billing platforms like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Orb to ensure accurate revenue tracking.
- Experience with AI-driven workflow automation tools to enhance productivity and reduce manual errors.
- Knowledge of tax compliance software specific to multi-state and multi-country environments is advantageous.
- Exposure to financial reporting automation tools that integrate with existing tech stacks.
- Understanding of how to leverage data visualization tools to present financial performance clearly.

- Compensation is structured as a base salary ranging from $140,000 to $180,000, supplemented by equity participation.
