About the role

The Director of School Accountability will serve as the primary architect of oversight for school performance within the NOLA Public Schools portfolio. This role owns the end-to-end management of the annual Charter School Accountability Framework reviews and continuous monitoring activities for a designated group of charter schools. You will synthesize complex performance data into clear narratives and actionable recommendations for Executive leadership. Success in this position requires an entrepreneurial mindset and a deep operational understanding of the charter school model. The Director will act as a critical liaison between the district and school leaders, ensuring alignment on expectations and progress. You will own the communication of decisions, supports, and interventions based on rigorous analysis of school-level information. This position demands a high level of integrity, curiosity, and resilience to navigate a dynamic and fast-paced educational environment. The role is instrumental in ensuring that every school within the portfolio adheres to statutory, contractual, and performance obligations.

What you'll do

Analyze annual school performance data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies across the charter school portfolio.

Develop comprehensive recommendations for the district regarding school oversight and intervention strategies based on accountability metrics.

Monitor statutory and contractual compliance for each school in the caseload on an ongoing basis.

Conduct in-depth reviews of school performance relative to the Charter School Accountability Framework (CSAF) indicators.

Synthesize complex data sets into clear, concise, and actionable reports for Executive Director of Accountability and senior leadership.

Manage communications and relationships with charter school leaders to ensure transparency and alignment on performance expectations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate supports and resources for schools requiring improvement.

Interpret and advise on the application of district policies and procedures related to school oversight and accountability.

Serve as the central district expert on charter school performance and the implications for system-level strategy.

Provide guidance and consultation to school leaders on data-driven instructional and operational improvements.

Draft communications to families and stakeholders regarding school performance and district oversight activities.

Evaluate the effectiveness of existing accountability tools and propose enhancements to improve monitoring processes.

Maintain detailed records of all reviews, communications, and decisions for audit and compliance purposes.

Ensure that all recommendations align with the vision and mission of NOLA Public Schools.

Requirements

Must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by the organization for the position now or in the future.

Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in education, public policy, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience with data analysis and the interpretation of complex educational datasets.

Proven track record of managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical information to diverse audiences.

Experience working within the charter school sector or with public school accountability systems is mandatory.

Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of integrity and professionalism.

Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Ability to travel as required for school visits and stakeholder meetings.

Nice to have

Preferred candidates will have a Master's degree in Education, Public Administration, or a related field.

Experience with the Louisiana Department of Education frameworks and policies.

Knowledge of the New Orleans charter school landscape and unique educational environment.

Familiarity with the use of data visualization tools and student information systems.

Practical notes

This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, LA.

The role requires domestic or international travel to visit schools and meet with stakeholders.
