The Sr. Manager
Regulatory Compliance & DMLRO Lithuania operates as a central compliance figure responsible for the oversight of Lithuanian regulatory obligations within Nium's global infrastructure. This position requires the interpretation and application of local, European, and international regulatory frameworks to ensure the lawful operation of payment services. The role holder will exercise significant ownership over the design, implementation, and maintenance of compliance controls specific to the Lithuanian jurisdiction. Decisions made in this role directly affect the integrity and security of financial workflows and client onboarding processes. The professional in this position will act as a primary liaison between regulatory authorities and internal business units to ensure alignment. Success in this role will be defined by the ability to manage compliance risk while enabling responsible business growth. This position demands a high level of diligence, analytical rigor, and communication precision. The role is critical in safeguarding the company against regulatory breaches and operational failures.

What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on new client data prior to the creation of internal profiles and onboarding approval.
- Design and maintain control frameworks that structure transaction monitoring activities according to established policy workflows and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze alerts, related documentation, and transaction data to verify that financial activity aligns precisely with compliance expectations and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate directly with investigation teams to resolve flagged cases and to document decisions, rationales, and outcomes for future audit reviews and regulatory examinations.
- Collaborate closely with technology and product departments to configure rules engines and system parameters so that they accurately reflect current regulatory logic and compliance policies.
- Approve escalated decisions regarding account access, transaction limits, and operational exceptions, ensuring all actions adhere to internal policies and external regulations.
- Communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly and effectively to external stakeholders, including partners and internal teams, to ensure consistent implementation across all payment corridors and jurisdictions.
- Update standard operating procedures, risk assessments, and compliance documentation immediately when laws, regulations, or internal policies change to maintain control accuracy across all payment corridors.
- Monitor the effectiveness of existing compliance controls and recommend improvements based on emerging risks, regulatory trends, and audit findings.
- Serve as the primary compliance expert for Lithuanian operations, providing guidance and training to local teams on regulatory expectations and internal procedures.
- Liaise with legal, risk, and product functions to ensure new initiatives, product launches, and market expansions comply with applicable regulatory frameworks from inception.
- Prepare clear, formal reports for internal management and external regulators, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within required timelines.
Requirements
- You must possess the legal right to work in Lithuania and the ability to perform duties from this location on a daily basis without reliance on remote or hybrid arrangements.
- You must bring a minimum of 3 years of professional experience within compliance, financial crime, or a highly related discipline in a regulated environment.
- You must demonstrate a clear understanding of transaction monitoring concepts, including risk scoring, alert triage, and escalation procedures, and their relationship to regulatory rules.
- You must possess knowledge of anti-money laundering principles, counter-terrorist financing measures, and the specific risks associated with financial crime in payment services.
- You must be capable of interpreting complex, multi-jurisdictional regulations and translating them into actionable steps for cross-functional teams, including technical and commercial stakeholders.
- You must have experience managing compliance documentation, including the preparation of formal reports, risk assessments, and regulatory filings to a high standard of accuracy.
- You must exhibit strong analytical skills, enabling you to assess intricate problems, identify root causes, and propose effective control enhancements.
- You must communicate effectively in a professional business environment, both verbally and in writing, ensuring clarity and precision in all interactions.

Practical notes
This position is based full-time in Vilnius, Lithuania, and requires the successful candidate to be physically present in the office as part of daily operational responsibilities. The role is governed by the legal and regulatory obligations applicable to Nium's operations in the Americas region, and help drive our expansion into new markets. This role requires strong familiarity with US money transmission licensing (MTLs), cross-border payment systems and regulations, US bank sponsorship, and financial services laws to help us continue to drive innovation and accelerate our licensing and growth plans for the region.
