About the role
The is the central architect responsible for designing and implementing the enterprise-wide financial crime combatting framework. This role owns the end-to-end strategy for financial crime prevention, detection, and response across all markets and product lines. You will establish the global standards, policies, and technology architecture that empower local Compliance teams to meet and exceed regulatory expectations. This position is responsible for setting the strategic direction that influences every decision and interaction across the entire payments organization. You will translate complex and evolving regulatory landscapes into concrete, actionable requirements for the business and technology teams. The role requires building a world-class, data-driven framework that provides scalable tooling and clear governance for all financial crime activities. You will ensure that the company's compliance posture is robust, consistent, and resilient in the face of emerging threats. This is a pivotal role that directly shapes the integrity and reputation of a rapidly scaling global payments infrastructure company.

What you'll do
- Architect the comprehensive global strategy for financial crime prevention, detection, and response.
- Design the standardized intake process that collects, categorizes, and prioritizes financial crime intelligence and risk signals globally.
- Build the foundational architecture for rules, policies, and monitoring logic that align with regulatory expectations and evolving business needs.
- Establish the global standards and documentation that create a repeatable, auditable foundation for financial crime management across all jurisdictions.
- Review outputs, controls, and risk assessments to confirm accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal and external standards before implementation.
- Ship compliance capabilities and tools that enable MLROs and country officers to operate with consistent efficiency and effectiveness.
- Partner with oversight bodies, technology teams, and business units to align strategy, resolve complex issues, and sustain high performance.
- Translate evolving global regulations and regulatory guidance into concrete requirements that directly shape product design and operational workflows.
- Guide cross-functional collaboration so that financial crime strategy remains coherent, integrated, and effective across all regions and business units.
- Ensure the financial crime framework supports the company's legal and regulatory obligations in the Americas region and helps drive expansion into new markets.
- Provide strong leadership in understanding US money transmission licensing (MTLs), cross-border payment systems and regulations, US bank sponsorship, and financial services laws.
- Drive innovation in financial crime compliance to accelerate licensing and growth plans for the region while maintaining a healthy balance sheet.
Requirements
- Must possess a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in financial crime, compliance, or a related regulatory domain.
- Must hold a solid, demonstrable understanding of anti-money laundering (AML) principles, sanctions programs, and fraud prevention practices.
- Must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and rapidly scaling global environment.
- Must communicate clearly, persuasively, and concisely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Must have a proven track record of developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures in a regulated environment.
- Must be highly proficient in analyzing complex information and translating it into actionable strategies and controls.
- Must exhibit strong judgment and integrity when making decisions in situations with ambiguous or incomplete information.
- Must be committed to upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance and ethical conduct in all professional activities.

- Prior experience with payment networks, transaction monitoring systems, or regulatory reporting platforms is valued.
- Direct experience in a payments infrastructure company or a highly regulated financial services environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks specific to digital payments and cross-border transactions.
