About the role
Nexthink is in search of an experienced Senior Java Engineer who is eager to learn and innovate. This role is essential for challenging existing norms and advancing Nexthink's digital employee experience. The ideal candidate will be driven by both the product and the technology stack, with a strong ability to create scalable software solutions within an agile framework.
In this position, you will be responsible for designing, building, and delivering large-scale, resilient, and scalable distributed services that handle billions of events. You will utilize modern cloud-native features and techniques to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our platforms. Your contributions will play a critical role in shaping our product and engineering DevOps practices, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop, test, and implement Nexthink's data platform while accelerating data onboarding processes.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and other Engineering teams to uphold high-quality standards in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- Work alongside architects to design and deliver scalable software solutions.
- Actively engage in the technology roadmap to align with business objectives.
- Advocate for enhancements in product quality, security, and performance.
- Promote best practices within the team to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Deliver complex features and enhancements to the platform.
- Address Level 3 support requests in collaboration with team members.
- Participate in agile methodologies and actively engage in various team ceremonies.
- Ensure that all deliverables meet the required standards for quality and performance.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Java developer, particularly in SaaS projects.
- Strong familiarity with microservices frameworks; experience with Micronaut or Spring framework is advantageous.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Proficient in messaging systems, with Kafka experience being highly valued.
- Understanding of streaming services and distributed caching mechanisms is a plus.
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud service providers is essential.
- Familiarity with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes is beneficial.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills are a must.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational abilities and a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
Nice to have
- Experience with container orchestration and service mesh technologies.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools to enhance system observability.
- Knowledge of security best practices in software development.
