This specific opportunity is situated within the Investment Control Team, a compact unit entrusted with the oversight and precise reporting of fund performance, portfolio valuations, and Net Asset Value. This team manages diverse asset classes, including Rates, Equities, Credit, Commodities, Energy, Mortgages, and FX. You will work in close concert with Trading, Risk, Quant, Investor Relations, Middle Office, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams, making cross-functional collaboration a daily reality. The role carries significant responsibility for accurate financial governance and robust internal controls. A core part of your mission will be the delivery of precise Profit and Loss reporting, with analysis disaggregated by asset class, strategy, and temporal frameworks. You will conduct ongoing valuations testing to ensure trading portfolio accuracy against independent pricing benchmarks, acting as a key control point. The position also requires the provision of Net Asset Value reporting to internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies, encompassing management and performance fee reviews. Furthermore, you will engage in additional project work, including tenure progression initiatives, to support the team's broader strategic objectives.

What you'll do
- Execute the full cycle of fund accounting and Net Asset Value calculations with rigorous precision.
- Perform independent valuations testing to verify the accuracy of trading portfolio prices against benchmark sources.
- Synthesize and deliver complex Profit and Loss reporting disaggregated by asset class, strategy, and time period.
- Generate and validate Net Asset Value reports for distribution to internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of management and performance fees as part of the valuation control process.
- Partner with the Trading and Risk teams to investigate and reconcile valuation discrepancies promptly.
- Develop and maintain robust controls over portfolio valuations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the Middle Office and Finance teams to support tenure progression and performance measurement initiatives.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to construct complex financial models and perform detailed variance analyses.
- Leverage SQL and Python to automate data extraction, transformation, and validation procedures.
- Create insightful visualizations in Tableau to communicate fund performance and control findings effectively.
- Liaise with Legal, Compliance, and Technology partners to implement process improvements and system controls.
- Contribute to project work aimed at enhancing the efficiency and scalability of investment control functions.
- Act as a subject matter expert in financial controls and valuations, providing guidance to stakeholders.
- Maintain a meticulous approach to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting outputs.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Economics.
- Demonstrate exceptional meticulousness in both written and verbal communication, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all deliverables.
- Possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex model construction, scenario analysis, and discrepancy identification.
- Exhibit a deep conceptual understanding of fixed income instruments, equity markets, and foundational derivative products.
- Show proficiency in SQL and Python to enable effective data exploration, manipulation, and automation of tasks.
- Demonstrate competence in Tableau or similar visualization tools to present data insights clearly and professionally.
- Have one to three years of prior experience in Product Control or Valuations roles within investment banking or buy-side environments.
- Alternatively, possess one to three years of experience within audit firm settings with a demonstrated interest in finance.
- Familiarity with financial instruments such as bonds, equities, and straightforward derivatives is advantageous, even if not previously encountered in a professional capacity.
