Founding Marketer
Job description
Founding Marketer at Nectar Social.
About the role
This position is for the inaugural marketer at Nectar Social, an AI-native social commerce platform. You will architect the go-to-market strategy and own all marketing initiatives end-to-end. The role requires building a new category from the ground up, demanding founder-level urgency and the ability to translate complex AI workflows into sharp, human-centered narratives. You will shape how the world's leading consumer brands engage with social commerce. You will act as the primary voice of the company, defining the narrative that connects our technology to the urgent needs of modern brands. This is a hands-on role where your fingerprints will be visible on every major initiative, requiring you to pivot quickly and learn aloud with the product team. You will be responsible for turning our vision into a tangible movement that early adopters can rally behind.
Key facts
What you'll do
You will define the visual and verbal identity of Nectar Social across every touchpoint, ensuring consistency from the website to investor decks. You will build and manage a high-impact content engine that produces blog posts, customer stories, and launch announcements to attract a loyal audience. You will spearhead product marketing for the Nectar Agent platform, developing messaging frameworks and packaging strategies to drive rapid adoption. You will collaborate directly with the founders to shape public relations narratives, turning every milestone into a category-defining story. You will engineer a high-signal demand generation system that combines SEO, email marketing, and paid media to create a steady sales pipeline. You will design and execute our event strategy, including presence at major industry events like NRF and Shoptalk, and hosting intimate dinners with brand decision-makers. You will create sales enablement tools, customer case studies, and competitive analyses to empower our enterprise teams. You will translate product roadmaps into compelling external narratives, ensuring our story aligns with the technology we build. You will implement marketing analytics and attribution frameworks to measure the impact of every initiative and compound our advantages. You will own the end-to-end execution of campaigns, iterating in real-time based on performance data and market feedback.
Requirements
You must bring 5+ years of marketing experience, with at least 1 to 2 years in an early-stage environment (Seed or Series A). You have a proven track record of building marketing functions from scratch without relying on established playbooks. You own the full spectrum of marketing disciplines, including brand, content, demand generation, and product marketing, and you refuse to silo your responsibilities. You are an exceptional writer and storyteller who can distill intricate AI concepts into sharp, human, and opinionated copy that resonates with marketing and CX leaders. You have a deep understanding of how to market to consumer brands, agencies, and marketing technology buyers across sectors like beauty, CPG, retail, or e-commerce. You possess strong instincts for positioning and messaging in a new or emerging category where the rules are not yet written and conventional wisdom does not apply. You have a bias for action, capable of running a launch end-to-end independently and preferring timely execution over delayed perfection. You are fluent with modern AI tools and integrate them into your daily workflow to accelerate production and iteration. You operate with a high ownership mindset, thriving in ambiguity and navigating fast cycles while remaining comfortable with direct founder feedback. You understand that hiring in a startup environment means wearing many hats and making significant contributions beyond your specific job description. You are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and ensuring our messaging reflects the varied communities we serve. You are proactive in seeking feedback and using data to validate your hypotheses, ensuring that every decision moves the needle. You have the resilience to operate in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and problems are complex. You are passionate about the intersection of technology and creativity, seeing marketing as a force for innovation rather than a cost center.
Nice to have
Experience with AI, automation, social, creator, or commerce platforms provides a clear advantage in understanding the product landscape. Existing relationships with marketing and digital leaders inside consumer brands can accelerate partnership and collaboration efforts. A background in journalism or content strategy that has sharpened your storytelling instincts is highly valuable for crafting narratives. Prior experience building category-defining narratives for new products or companies demonstrates your ability to set the agenda. Fluency with Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and LinkedIn as both a marketer and a power user ensures you understand where audiences actually spend their time. Collaboration history with founders on PR, analyst relations, or executive communications helps you align messaging with business objectives.
