Nectar Social is on the lookout for its inaugural Event & Community Manager to spearhead the development and expansion of our events and community initiatives. This pivotal position will focus on crafting and implementing engaging experiences that connect our customers, potential clients, and industry professionals. You will play a crucial role in defining the essence of community within a dynamic marketing technology organization.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Take charge of all elements related to Nectar's event calendar, which includes organizing customer dinners, executive meet-ups, social gatherings, webinars, and participation in conferences.
- Oversee financial planning for events, liaising with vendors and venues, while establishing efficient processes to scale event operations.
- Work closely with sales and customer success teams to devise event strategies aimed at generating new business opportunities and enhancing relationships with current clients.
- Track and analyze event outcomes, including attendance rates, impact on sales pipelines, and participant feedback, to improve future event planning.
- Represent Nectar at various industry conferences, handling on-site logistics, staffing, and sponsor obligations.
- Create and launch Nectar's first community program for customers and industry stakeholders, which may include platforms like Slack or Discord, an ambassador program, or a customer advisory board.
- Develop a consistent content and engagement strategy for the community, featuring activities like AMAs, office hours, member highlights, and peer discussions.
- Serve as the main point of contact for community members, nurturing authentic relationships with key customers and industry influencers.
- Identify and engage community advocates to support case studies, referrals, and organic growth initiatives.
- Communicate community insights and feedback to product, marketing, and customer success teams to inform their strategies.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of experience in event marketing, community management, or a related field, ideally within a B2B SaaS or marketing technology environment.
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing events from the initial idea stage through to post-event evaluation.
- Experience in building or enhancing an online or physical community from its inception.
- Ability to work autonomously in a startup atmosphere where new processes need to be developed.
- Strong project management skills, capable of juggling multiple events and tasks at once.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a genuine passion for connecting with others.
- Willingness to travel for events and conferences, with an estimated travel commitment of 20 to 30 percent.
Nice to have
- Experience in social media, marketing technology, or the creator economy.
- Familiarity with community engagement platforms such as Slack, Discord, or Circle, as well as event management tools like Luma, Bizzabo, or HubSpot.
- Previous experience as an early-stage employee at a startup, contributing to the establishment of a new function.

Practical notes
This position is hybrid, requiring employees to be in the office four days a week. After a three-month period, employees will be eligible for three flexible remote days each quarter. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, a 401(k) matching program, and generous stipends: $1,000 per month for housing near the office, $50 per month for mobile expenses, $50 per month for internet (for remote work days), and commuter benefits (train stipend or reimbursement for Palo Alto parking permits). Additionally, free lunch is provided at the Palo Alto office.
