About the role
You will spearhead the creation of the Deal Desk function at n8n, establishing the foundational processes and culture from the very beginning. The role demands a focus on AI-driven automation to refine commercial operations and guide the sales organization. You will provide strategic counsel on deal structuring to safeguard profit margins while accelerating the sales cycle. This position is central to enhancing data integrity and visibility across the entire sales pipeline. You will own the development of contract libraries that empower the business to operate with greater autonomy. Furthermore, you will implement robust systems for managing exceptions and ensuring compliance. Your work will directly influence the efficiency and scalability of our commercial engine. Ultimately, you will build the playbook and infrastructure for how n8n commercializes its platform at scale.

What you'll do
- Architect and launch the end-to-end Deal Desk function, embedding AI and automation into intake, routing, and approval workflows.
- Serve as the primary advisor to the Sales leadership team on strategic deal structuring, pricing tiers, and margin protection initiatives.
- Design and implement transparent, self-serve discount and pricing policies that enable the Sales team to execute deals efficiently without constant escalation.
- Lead critical month-end and quarter-end strategy sessions focused on optimizing deal velocity and removing bottlenecks in the pipeline.
- Oversee the handling of contract redlines and non-standard commercial terms to minimize legal team dependency for routine negotiations.
- Curate a comprehensive library of redline clauses that train AI models to propose viable alternative terms for standard agreements.
- Drive the implementation of AI-powered automation within the CPQ environment to categorize requests, manage approvals, and trigger re-approval workflows.
- Act as the owner of Salesforce data quality, ensuring that all executed contracts are accurately logged, structured, and easily reportable.
- Partner with the Customer Success organization to design and structure unique renewal and expansion agreements that maximize lifetime value.
- Lead the response to security, compliance, and legal inquiries, managing DPA and SOC 2 addenda in collaboration with Sales, Security, and Legal.
- Generate monthly performance analytics for the Deal Desk, providing insights on cycle times, discounting trends, and exception patterns.
- Define the governance framework for AI usage within commercial operations, ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Identify opportunities to streamline the contracting process through process mapping and technology integration.
- Collaborate closely with Finance to ensure accurate revenue recognition and alignment with financial reporting standards.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by measuring the impact of process changes and iterating based on data.
Requirements
- You have extensive, hands-on experience building and managing a dedicated Deal Desk function, moving beyond process execution to strategic design.
- You possess deep, practical knowledge of SaaS pricing models, revenue recognition standards, ARR reporting mechanics, and enterprise contract law frameworks.
- You have a proven track record of negotiating and redlining order-form terms directly with enterprise customers, including the judgment to determine when legal counsel is required.
- You have direct, practical experience configuring, deploying, and administering CPQ systems and Salesforce CRM platforms.
- You maintain an AI-native mindset, demonstrated by successfully creating automated workflows and approval processes that leverage AI to reduce manual overhead.
- You communicate with exceptional clarity and influence, managing complex relationships across Sales, Legal, Revenue Operations, and Finance stakeholders.
- You have a history of owning complex commercial operations in a high-growth environment.
- You are highly proficient in analyzing data to drive decision-making and process optimization.
Nice to have
- You have previously established a Deal Desk function from scratch, including the development of playbooks, policies, and procedures.
- You are familiar with modern CPQ and billing platforms such as Salesforce CPQ, Hyperline, or Solvimon.
- You have a genuine interest in n8n and its ecosystem, ideally with prior experience building workflows using the platform.
