About the role
You will own the end to end delivery and technical health of two distinct engineering teams operating within the Enterprise Trust & Reliability division at the company. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain the technical vision, ensuring that commercial integrations are delivered with a robust focus on operational stability and long term scalability. You will define and instill the operational methodologies, standards, and cultural norms that will shape how these foundational teams function on a daily basis. This role is positioned as a foundational leadership position, giving you significant influence over the architecture, process, and culture of the teams from their earliest stages. You will work closely with enterprise stakeholders to ensure that the technology solutions you deliver directly support commercial objectives and drive client engagement. Your leadership will be instrumental in building resilient systems that protect revenue streams and enhance the trust placed in the platform by enterprise clients. You will be accountable for mentoring engineers, managing technical debt, and ensuring that the teams can deliver sustainable value without compromising on reliability or security.

What you'll do
Lead the technical strategy and delivery roadmap for two engineering teams within the Enterprise Trust & Reliability division, aligning their efforts with commercial integration goals.
Architect and enforce operational standards that ensure the stability, reliability, and scalability of critical systems supporting enterprise clients.
Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, providing guidance on technical decisions, career development, and performance management.
Collaborate with product managers and enterprise stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical specifications and integration plans.
Oversee the implementation of monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to maintain high operational resilience and rapid issue resolution.
Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, testing, and deployment to improve quality, security, and delivery predictability.
Identify and prioritise technical debt, leading initiatives to refactor and modernise legacy components without disrupting live services.
Establish clear metrics and reporting frameworks to measure team performance, system health, and the success of commercial integrations.
Facilitate cross team collaboration, ensuring alignment between engineering, operations, and business functions to remove blockers and streamline workflows.
Cultivate a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and ownership, encouraging the teams to innovate while maintaining strict reliability standards.
Manage resource planning and capacity forecasting to ensure the teams have the necessary skills and bandwidth to meet commercial and operational demands.
Serve as the primary technical escalation point for critical issues, working with senior leadership to resolve complex enterprise challenges.
Contribute to the broader technology strategy of the company by sharing insights from the teams regarding platform capabilities, risks, and opportunities.
Support compliance and governance requirements by ensuring that all engineering activities adhere to internal policies and external regulatory standards.
Requirements
You must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or have equivalent practical experience.
You need to have extensive professional experience in software engineering or technology leadership, with a proven track record of managing complex technical projects.
You should demonstrate deep expertise in system architecture, particularly in the areas of distributed systems, integrations, and operational reliability.
You must have hands on experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and modern deployment pipelines to effectively guide engineering teams.
You need to show a strong history of building and leading high performing engineering teams, including mentoring staff and conducting performance reviews.
You should be fluent in technical communication, capable of articulating complex concepts to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
You must hold the right to work in the United Kingdom and be eligible to obtain the required DBS checks without delay.
You need to be committed to the hybrid work policy, including attending office days as required while also supporting remote work arrangements.
Nice to have
Experience in regulated environments or industries with strict compliance requirements would be highly relevant to the role.
