What you'll do

• Collaborate with project teams to structure and negotiate financing solutions for renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct comprehensive financial modeling and analysis to assess project viability, including cash flow projections, sensitivity analyses, and risk assessments.
• Prepare and present detailed financial reports and presentations to internal stakeholders and external partners, effectively communicating complex financial concepts.
• Engage with financial institutions, investors, and other stakeholders to secure funding for projects, fostering strong relationships to facilitate ongoing collaboration.
• Monitor project performance post-financing, ensuring compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements, while identifying areas for improvement.
• Support the due diligence process for new projects, including evaluating financial, operational, and market risks associated with potential investments.
• Participate in the development of project financing strategies, including debt and equity structuring, to optimize capital costs and enhance project returns.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions that may impact project financing, providing insights to the team for strategic decision-making.

Requirements

• A degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; a master's degree or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, CA) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, or a related field, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, with a demonstrated ability to build and manipulate complex financial models.
• Excellent understanding of financial instruments, capital markets, and the regulatory environment affecting project financing.
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.

Nice to have

• Experience working with international financing institutions or development banks.
• Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and market dynamics, particularly in solar and wind sectors.
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks governing project finance in South Africa and other relevant jurisdictions.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling software.
• Ability to speak additional languages, particularly those relevant to the African market, is a plus.
