About the role

As a Community Liaising Officer at Mulilo, you will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships between the company and the local communities in Kroonstad, Free State. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about community engagement and have a strong understanding of stakeholder dynamics. You will be responsible for ensuring that community interests are represented and addressed in Mulilo's operations, particularly in the renewable energy sector. What you'll do

Develop and maintain strong relationships with local community stakeholders, including residents, community leaders, and local organizations, to facilitate open communication and collaboration.
Conduct regular community meetings to gather feedback, address concerns, and inform residents about ongoing projects and initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that community perspectives are integrated into project planning and execution, particularly in renewable energy initiatives.
Monitor and report on community sentiment regarding Mulilo's projects, providing insights to management for strategic decision-making.
Assist in the development and implementation of community engagement strategies that align with Mulilo's corporate social responsibility goals.
Prepare and distribute informational materials, such as newsletters and brochures, to keep the community informed about project developments and opportunities for involvement.
Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with local regulations and community expectations.
Identify and facilitate community development initiatives, such as educational programs or local employment opportunities, that can enhance the company's relationship with the community.
Support the resolution of conflicts or issues that may arise between the company and community members, fostering a spirit of cooperation and understanding.
Gather and analyze data related to community engagement efforts, providing reports and recommendations to improve future initiatives.
Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills in community engagement and stakeholder management.
Represent Mulilo at community events and forums, promoting the company's commitment to sustainable development and community welfare.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in social sciences, community development, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or a similar role, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups of people.
Proven experience in conflict resolution and negotiation, with a focus on building consensus.
Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of Kroonstad and surrounding areas is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the local area as needed.

Experience in project management or community development initiatives.
Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in the energy sector.
Fluency in Afrikaans or other local languages to enhance communication with community members.
