Pricing & Monetization Associate
Job description
About the role
MongoDB is seeking an Associate on the Pricing & Monetization team to own decisions on how we deliver products and drive sustainable revenue growth. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of product strategy, engineering, analytics, finance, and business operations, working closely with internal stakeholders to identify and translate ambiguous business problems into structured product recommendations. This position requires a driven self-starter with proven experience in building data-driven business cases, communicating complex recommendations to leadership, and operating cross-functionally to solve business problems. You take tasks from start to finish, are able to deliver value quickly, and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging environment. You are interested in both diving deep into product data and also extracting executive-level insights to drive strategic decision-making. This role can be based out of our Toronto office or remotely in the Toronto region.
Key facts
What you'll do
You will lead pricing and packaging strategies for new product launches and for adjustments to existing offerings, including analyzing historical customer data, building business cases, and evaluating trade-offs. You will own complex financial and operational models (e.g. revenue, margin, customer cohorting, usage models) to quantify the impact of pricing and monetization decisions. You will partner with Finance, Engineer, Product Management, and GTM to develop and execute cohesive strategies that align with customer needs, product roadmap, and financial objectives. You will communicate strategic insights and recommendations to leadership in a clear, concise, and actionable manner. You will conduct competitive benchmarking to understand market dynamics and R&D investment opportunities. You will drive cross-functional execution to operationalize decisions around SKUs, billing, selling, tooling, and performance of product changes. You will collaborate with Engineering to understand infrastructure costs, technical dependencies, and architecture decisions, translating these inputs into unit economics and pricing models. You will synthesize findings from price sensitivity analyses, willingness-to-pay research, and elasticity testing into concrete packaging options. You will support go-to-market planning by defining target segments, value propositions, and positioning frameworks for pricing experiments. You will monitor pricing performance post-launch, diagnosing variance against forecast and recommending corrective actions. You will maintain rigorous documentation of assumptions, data sources, and decision rationales for auditability and future reuse. You will partner with Finance to reconcile bookings, ARR recognition, and churn metrics to ensure alignment with monetization policies. You will translate technical constraints from Engineering into implications for tier design, feature differentiation, and monetization guardrails. You will contribute to the development of forecasting models that integrate pipeline, conversion, and renewal dynamics to improve revenue predictability. You will participate in scenario planning exercises to evaluate the financial impact of strategic roadmap choices and market disruptions.
Requirements
You hold a BA/BS in a quantitative field, with an MBA preferred as a formal credential. You bring 5+ years of experience in strategy, business operations, or financial analysis, with 2-3 years in a management consultant role or a comparable position within a technology company. You have a proven track record of using data to drive business decisions, including the ability to structure problems for analysis and frame recommendations under uncertainty. You demonstrate excellent communication skills, synthesizing strategic insights into actionable and compelling narratives for executive audiences. You are proficient in advanced Excel and Google Slides or PowerPoint, using these tools to build clear models and visually engaging decks. You are confident using SQL for fetching and manipulating data, and you supplement this work with a scripting language such as Python to automate analysis and validate results. You move quickly and iterate on analyses, balancing speed with rigor to meet demanding timelines. You are comfortable with ambiguity, solving complex problems, and working in a self-guided manner without constant supervision. You have a strong interest in the intersection of product strategy, finance, and business operations, and you seek to deepen this understanding over time. You are comfortable handling confidential information and exercising sound judgment when working with financial and customer data. You are able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, switching context effectively while maintaining high standards of accuracy. You are proactive in seeking clarification, aligning stakeholders, and escalating risks before they impact execution. You demonstrate ownership by seeing initiatives through from ideation to implementation and learning from outcomes to refine future approaches.
