What you'll do
- Execute the precise loading of grocery items onto delivery vehicles according to designated routes and strict schedules.
- Implement secure cargo management practices and oversee the systematic unloading of return items from trailers.
- Coordinate the organization of production materials, manage the operation of palletizers, and ensure the proper processing of recyclables.
- Demonstrate proficient operation of stand-up forklifts, cherry pickers, and rider jacks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct thorough visual quality checks on packaging integrity and the freshness of products to maintain high standards.
- Uphold a consistently clean workspace and adhere strictly to all safety regulations, including the correct use of wheel chocks and trailer stands.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs documenting shipment quantities and all relevant delivery information for record-keeping.
- Foster effective verbal communication with team members while diligently following all company safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
- Support the fulfillment of the company mission by handling products with care to minimize waste and ensure quality.
- Adapt to the dynamic needs of the operation by performing various tasks as required to support the loading dock workflow.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship at this time.
- Must be capable of working comfortably in a 34-degree refrigerated environment for extended periods.
- Must possess the physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively throughout the shift.
- Must be able to stand, squat, kneel, and bend continuously for extended durations as required by the role.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Must show a willingness to work overtime or additional weekends based on the evolving needs of the business.
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately within a fast-paced operational setting.
- Must be able to follow detailed instructions and maintain focus during long shifts to ensure safety and productivity.
- Must pass all required background checks and drug screenings as part of the employment process.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures regarding attendance and punctuality.
Nice to have
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Prior experience working in warehouse operations or a similar logistics environment.
- Previous experience handling produce or a foundational knowledge of produce selection and storage.
- Possession of a valid food safety certification such as ServSafe.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- A personal interest in the mission to reduce food waste and promote environmental sustainability.
- Experience with inventory management systems or basic data entry skills.
- Familiarity with logistics software or scanning equipment used in warehouse settings.
- A proactive attitude towards safety and continuous improvement in warehouse practices.
Practical notes
- The work schedule is fixed on a full-time basis, operating Saturday through Wednesday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
- This position requires the ability to work indoors in a cold environment and outdoors when loading trailers.
