The Associate Project Manager will actively participate in essential project duties including cost and labor tracking, material submittals, subcontractor management, and contract compliance to optimize performance, boost productivity, and reduce overall project costs.

What you'll do

Plan and organize project management activities to ensure efficient execution of underground cable installations for power transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and communication networks.

Support the implementation of project management best practices that harden the electrical grid and deliver reliable communication networks while integrating renewable energy into existing systems.

Coordinate directly with utility clients and internal stakeholders to clarify project objectives and ensure alignment with strategic infrastructure goals.

Oversee material submittals and subcontractor management to maintain quality standards and adherence to contract compliance requirements.

Track cost and labor metrics in real time to identify variances and drive corrective actions that optimize project performance and productivity.

Manage the scheduling and logistics of cable installation for solid and stranded conductors, copper, fiber optic, and coaxial cable across diverse site conditions.

Facilitate communication among the Michels Underground Cable, Inc. team to uphold a culture where everyone shares responsibility for safety, regardless of title.

Utilize proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to generate reports, manage documentation, and support decision-making processes essential for high-impact, essential infrastructure work.

Requirements

You must possess 1-3 years of experience in utilities, project management, and/or construction management to demonstrate foundational industry knowledge.

You must show proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to handle documentation, reporting, and communication tasks effectively.

You must hold a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team.

You must be able to perform the essential functions of this role, with or without reasonable accommodation, in a work environment that may include variable outdoor conditions.

You must comply with all company policies, safety procedures, and project management protocols to ensure operational consistency and regulatory adherence.

You must be willing to travel to various project locations as required, supporting infrastructure needs across multiple regions.

You must meet the full-time schedule expectations, which include occasional overtime to address project deadlines and critical milestones.

You must successfully pass pre-employment screening, which may include background checks and reference verification, to uphold Michels' standards of trust and reliability.

Nice to have
