About the role

This position exists to protect the flow that sustends our work with children. In this role, you own the full revenue cycle for families accessing applied behavior analysis, speech, and occupational therapy services. Your work ensures care begins on schedule and continues without disruption. You will operate with calm clarity while managing consistent pressure in a clinical billing environment. The role is centered on accuracy, timeliness, and reliability in every transaction that supports client care. You act as the primary guardian of financial and data integrity for the services our team provides. Success in this position is measured by clean claims, reduced denials, and satisfied families receiving necessary support. You are expected to uphold the standards that allow the organization to serve vulnerable populations without interruption.

Key facts

What you'll do

You will format claims to meet payer specifications before submission. You will verify coding accuracy for every therapy encounter to align with current guidelines. You will manage accounts receivable through proactive follow-up to secure timely reimbursement. You will generate patient invoices and actively monitor outstanding balances. You will process adjustments on claims with precision and speed. You will respond to insurer audit requests without delay and in compliance with standards. When necessary, you will review medical records and prepare resubmissions with appropriate documentation. You will research credit balances and process refunds or adjustments as required. You will track changes in insurance rules and remain fluent in billing requirements. You will identify opportunities to improve workflows across the revenue cycle team. You will answer insurance and billing questions for colleagues with clarity and professionalism. You will complete accounts receivable cleanup projects and other assignments directed by management. You will coordinate with clinical teams to ensure documentation supports billing integrity. You will maintain organized records that support audits, reporting, and compliance reviews.

Requirements

You bring a minimum of three years of billing experience in a related field. You hold an associate certification in medical billing, such as AHIMA or AAPC. You demonstrate knowledge of behavioral health and ABA billing practices and medical codes. You are experienced navigating Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, FFS, TPAs, PPO, and IPA payers. You understand billing codes for occupational therapy services. You are familiar with billing codes for speech-language therapy services. You are skilled in practice management software and comfortable with Central Reach. You rely on reliable internet to support consistent daily work. You maintain a high degree of accuracy with sharp attention to detail. You communicate effectively in both oral and written formats. You manage multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment while handling frequent interruptions. You stay organized with a strong sense of urgency. You arrive on time and adapt quickly to new responsibilities. You deliver excellent service in every interaction with families. You feel deeply driven to serve the needs of families.
