What you'll do
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard software, ensuring that all project milestones are tracked and reported accurately.
- Collaborate with project managers to establish project budgets, monitor expenditures, and forecast future financial performance, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
- Analyze project performance data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, providing actionable insights to project teams.
- Prepare regular project status reports for stakeholders, summarizing progress, risks, and financial health, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Implement and maintain project control processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards and best practices.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for project planning and execution, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Assist in the development of risk management strategies, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation plans to minimize impact on project delivery.
- Support the project closeout process by ensuring all documentation is complete and lessons learned are captured for future reference.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates on project controls and contributing to discussions on project strategy and execution.
- Mentor junior team members in project controls best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Utilize advanced project management software tools to enhance reporting capabilities and streamline project control processes.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including clients and vendors, to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, project management, or a related discipline, preferably within the construction or engineering sectors.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with cost control methodologies and financial management principles.
- Knowledge of risk management practices and techniques in project execution.
- Certification in project management (PMP, CAPM, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Nice to have
- Experience in the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries is a plus.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques and reporting.
- Previous experience working with government contracts or compliance requirements.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field or additional certifications in project controls.
Skills & tools
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with data visualization tools to enhance reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and their application in project management.
- Ability to adapt to new software and tools quickly, demonstrating a willingness to learn and grow.
