Director Demand Generation
Job description
About the role
You will own the end-to-end demand generation strategy that directly feeds Maze's revenue engine, taking full responsibility for the programs and pipeline that fuel scalable growth. You will act as the central diagnostic owner, constantly identifying where the funnel leaks or stalls and architecting targeted campaigns to resolve those gaps with speed and precision. You will serve as the connective tissue between strategy and execution, working in lockstep with Sales and Business Operations to ensure that every qualified lead moves efficiently toward revenue. This role is for someone who genuinely cares about the product research space and the teams we serve, bringing an informed, data-driven mindset to every decision. You will move fast, iterate often, and always be thinking about the next version of the demand engine you are building. Over time, this senior individual contributor role offers the opportunity to build, mentor, and lead a high-performing demand generation team. You will balance short-term execution discipline with long-term strategic vision to ensure sustainable, predictable growth.
Key facts
What you'll do
Own top-of-funnel demand generation with a clear focus on leads, MQLs, and pipeline creation, primarily for new business with a meaningful eye on expansion.
Develop and execute demand generation strategy by continuously identifying gaps in the funnel and proposing, testing, and deploying solutions that move the needle.
Manage paid campaigns in collaboration with our agency partners across existing channels, while actively researching and piloting new ones, iterating based strictly on what the data tells you.
Plan and execute field marketing programs including conferences and executive events designed to create pipeline and accelerate deals already in motion.
Build and maintain lead and MQL forecasting models so the team always has a reliable, data-backed view of where we stand and what levers to pull.
Recommend greenfield opportunities for us, including new channels, and design pilot tests to validate performance before scaling.
Own campaign operations including lead flow, routing logic, and data integrity across our marketing ops stack, working closely with Sales and Business Operations.
Drive rigorous experimentation by testing hypotheses, measuring outcomes, and documenting learnings to refine future demand generation playbooks.
Partner deeply with Sales to define, refine, and optimize lead scoring and lifecycle processes that ensure timely and relevant engagement.
Champion the user research ICP by translating empathy for researcher and buyer needs into precise targeting and messaging that resonates.
Establish clear reporting cadences and performance narratives that align stakeholders around goals, insights, and action plans.
Champion a bias for experimentation where every channel, audience, and creative approach is treated as a test with clear success criteria.
Requirements
You bring 5+ years of experience in demand generation at a B2B SaaS company, with a proven ability to own outcomes end to end.
You have direct experience in the user or market research industry and empathy for our ICP - you understand who we're selling to, what they care about, and how to reach them in ways that resonate.
You have a track record of successfully driving leads, MQLs, and pipeline through a mix of paid programs, field marketing, and multi-channel campaigns.
You are comfortable owning direction and outcomes for demand generation, balancing short-term execution with longer-term strategy and adaptability.
You have strong analytical instincts and a habit of using data as the basis for decisions, building forecasts with rigor, and translating funnel metrics into clear business narratives.
You have experience managing paid campaigns through agency relationships and holding partners accountable to clear performance benchmarks.
You have hands-on familiarity with marketing automation and CRM tools, and a solid understanding of how data flows between them to support closed-loop reporting.
You have a bias for experimentation, approaching demand gen with curiosity, iterating quickly, and acknowledging that not every test will move the needle.
You are collaborative by nature, building strong working relationships across Marketing, Sales, and Business Operations to align on shared objectives.
You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, able to identify what's broken, structure a plan to fix it, and move forward without waiting for perfect information.
