What you'll do
- Architect the visual language and interaction model for HER's mobile interfaces to define the user experience standard.
- Own the complete user journey, converting casual scrollers into active community participants across a multitude of screens and touchpoints.
- Build and maintain the design system components that ensure interface coherence and scalability as features expand rapidly over time.
- Translate complex business objectives into clear user journeys that honor the diverse spectrum of relationship preferences with authenticity and respect.
- Collaborate with researchers to interpret user behavior and refine interface patterns based on concrete evidence and qualitative insights.
- Lead product through major updates by crafting clear prototypes that uncover potential problems before engineering resources are committed.
- Partner closely with data teams to analyze how design changes impact retention and satisfaction among core user segments.
- Ship iterations frequently to enable the team to learn what resonates with HER members in real-world market conditions and feedback loops.
- Define the aesthetic and functional standards for all product surfaces to ensure brand consistency across the entire experience.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to align stakeholders on product direction and validate design decisions early in the process.
- Create high-fidelity interactive prototypes that communicate functionality, motion, and user flow to non-design stakeholders effectively.
- Advocate for the queer community by ensuring every design decision considers inclusivity, safety, and representation in the digital space.
- Establish best practices for design documentation and handoff to streamline the engineering implementation process.
- Evaluate emerging design trends and technologies to recommend innovations that can enhance the HER user experience competitively.
- Measure the success of design implementations through qualitative feedback and quantitative performance metrics.
Requirements
The candidate must possess a minimum of three years of experience crafting interfaces for consumer applications that are currently in production. A strong portfolio is required, demonstrating your specific role in designing and shipping mobile products that reached a wide audience. You must prove the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders while maintaining clarity and conviction in design decisions. A proven track record of balancing business goals with user needs is essential for success in this position. You should have experience conducting user research and translating findings into actionable design solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to articulate design rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment and prioritize tasks independently is critical for this role. You must be comfortable receiving feedback and iterating on designs based on collaborative critique and data.

Collaboration and Tools
Success in this role depends on close collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Analysts, and Leadership. You will partner with these teams to shape what is built, understand the rationale behind builds, and measure real-world performance. A high level of proficiency with Figma, Sketch, InVision, Protopie, and FigJam is mandatory for creating and communicating your designs effectively. You will use these tools to produce design systems documentation and interactive prototypes for testing. Your expertise will help establish component libraries that ensure consistency and efficiency across the product portfolio. You will be expected to mentor junior designers on design tools and best practices where appropriate.
