PNO Analyst
Job description
About the role
The analyst evaluates watchlists and documents outcomes to support compliance and risk decisions. This role transforms complex data into clear, actionable answers that guide critical risk and compliance choices. You will own the end-to-end analysis of screening results, ensuring each assessment is thorough, accurate, and well-articulated. The position requires a blend of technical curiosity and business sense to understand the "why" behind the numbers. You will act as a primary bridge, translating raw data signals into narratives that compliance and risk teams can act upon. Success in this role means consistently improving the clarity and efficiency of recurring analytical workflows. You will be expected to not just maintain these processes but to actively seek improvements that strengthen the team's analytical output. This is a foundational role within the financial crime risk management framework, directly influencing how the company manages identity and watchlist risk.

Practical notes
Typical interview steps
Analyst interviews often include a SQL or spreadsheet exercise, a case question, and behavioral rounds. Candidates may be asked to analyze a dataset, define a metric, or estimate an outcome. Presenting findings clearly is tested as often as the analysis itself. Interviewers often test speed and clarity with a timed exercise. Explaining what the numbers mean, not just what they are, is the differentiator.
Good to know
Professionals in this field use screening platforms to monitor name-based risk signals and assess exposure. Clear documentation supports audit trails and helps meet regulatory compliance standards. Collaboration with compliance and product teams aligns risk policies with product flows and customer onboarding. This role operates within a financial crime risk management framework and handles identity and watchlist assessments. Work involves interpreting indicators and producing analyses used by stakeholders for decisions.
Questions to ask
Good questions to ask the employer in the interview: what does success look like in the first six months, how is the team structured, what is the current biggest challenge, and how are decisions made. Asking about growth paths and the review process is also well received. Employers expect questions, and good ones show preparation.
Career growth
Analyst careers can grow into senior analyst, analytics manager, or data science roles. Some analysts move into product or business operations. Deeper technical skills or broader business ownership are the two main paths. Analyst roles are a common on-ramp into product, marketing, or operations leadership. Building deep domain knowledge alongside analytics is the fastest path.
