About the role
Marqeta is looking for an Associate Account Manager to join their organization in either Toronto or Vancouver, Canada. This position centers on helping clients succeed with the company's payments platform by maintaining strong, ongoing relationships with assigned accounts. The Associate Account Manager will serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring that their needs are understood and addressed in a timely manner. This role involves working across departments to coordinate solutions, track account health, and contribute to the overall growth of the client portfolio.

What you'll do
- Provide ongoing support to assigned client accounts and nurture professional relationships over the course of each engagement
- Monitor account activity and performance indicators regularly to identify areas for improvement and potential growth opportunities
- Serve as a primary liaison between clients and internal teams such as operations, product, and engineering groups
- Assist in the setup and configuration of new client accounts from initial onboarding through to successful launch
- Prepare regular reports and summaries that track account metrics, activity trends, and client feedback over time
- Respond to client inquiries and concerns in a professional, clear, and timely manner at all times
- Collaborate closely with senior account managers to develop strategies focused on account retention and long-term expansion
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client interactions, notes, and follow-up items in internal systems
- Participate actively in client meetings, take detailed notes, and ensure all action items are tracked and completed promptly
- Contribute thoughtful ideas and observations during team discussions focused on improving account management practices and processes
Requirements
- Demonstrated interest in account management, client services, or a related professional field with a track record of follow-through
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences
- Willingness and ability to work in Toronto, Canada or Vancouver, Canada on a regular in-person basis
- A high level of attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities across multiple workstreams and projects simultaneously
- Comfort with managing several accounts at the same time and prioritizing competing demands effectively each day
- A genuine interest in learning how payments platforms and financial technology operations function in practice
- A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and practical work experience in a relevant discipline
- The ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
Nice to have
- Any prior experience in a client-facing, sales support, or account assistance role within a fast-paced and collaborative environment
- Some familiarity with the payments industry or financial technology sector and the trends shaping it
- Proficiency in both English and French, which is particularly relevant for the Canadian market and client base
- Hands-on experience using customer relationship management or account tracking software to organize and prioritize work
