Project Manager (Data Center Migration & Modernization)
Job description
About the role
You will direct large-scale data center migration and modernization initiatives, orchestrating the movement of workloads into AWS while systematically retiring legacy infrastructure on a firm, weekly schedule. Your primary ownership is to convert rigid, fixed project dates into a reliable execution rhythm that aligns engineering judgment with firm delivery commitments. You will own the integrity of the schedule, the clarity of communication cadence, and the readiness of each migration wave, ensuring project management drives the delivery process rather than merely documenting status. In this capacity, you will intake complex legacy environments and transform them into a structured, executable migration wave architecture that is transparent to all stakeholders. You will coordinate security, architecture, and engineering reviews, maintaining current risk registers and decision records that support defensible timelines and justifiable commitments. Your work will leverage agent-native platform capabilities to integrate automated discovery, dependency mapping, and validation outputs directly into the planning process, reducing manual busywork. Ultimately, you will translate intricate technical constraints into clear schedules that the delivery team can execute against with confidence, enabling partners to move through migration waves with measurable outcomes and transparent handoffs.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Intake legacy applications, infrastructure maps, and operational constraints, transforming them into a structured migration wave architecture that defines the path to AWS.
- Design the target AWS environment, defining precise cutover sequences and documenting dependency relationships to validate readiness for each wave of migration.
- Coordinate security, architecture, and engineering reviews, maintaining current risk tracking and decision records that support defensible timelines and contractual integrity.
- Integrate automated discovery, dependency mapping, test generation, and validation outputs from the agent platform into wave planning, ensuring tools drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Design and run review rhythms that make weekly status a reflection of true cutover readiness, protecting the integrity of contractual dates.
- Partner with business, engineering, and security stakeholders to resolve blockers, align priorities, and protect the committed timeline throughout the modernization program.
- Prepare shipping artifacts for each wave, including detailed runbooks, validation steps, and communication plans to enable stable, low-risk transitions.
- Guide partners through migration waves, ensuring handoffs are transparent, measurable, and tied directly to observable outcomes and success criteria.
- Translate complex technical constraints and dependencies into clear, executable schedules that the delivery team can confidently execute on a weekly basis.
- Maintain traceability between architectural decisions, risk logs, and schedule integrity to ensure all stakeholders understand the rationale behind timelines.
- Work closely with AWS services and reference architectures to ensure technical designs are feasible, testable, and aligned with best practices.
- Ensure that your submission reflects this specific duty order, emphasizing measurable outcomes, transparent handoffs, and a clear line of sight between engineering judgment and the schedule customers commit to.
Requirements
You bring three to five years of experience managing complex programs that move workloads to cloud platforms at scale, handling significant infrastructure and application portfolios. You are comfortable operating in environments where fixed dates and ownership of overages define how project management functions and how accountability is demonstrated. You understand data center workloads, application dependencies, and infrastructure patterns that directly affect the success of AWS migration efforts and cutover stability. You communicate clearly with both technical and business audiences, keeping plans aligned with firm contractual commitments and delivery expectations. You navigate ambiguity while maintaining rigorous traceability between architecture decisions, risk logs, and schedule integrity to prevent plan drift. You are disciplined in your use of tools and processes, ensuring that platform capabilities are used to their fullest extent to automate repetitive discovery and validation tasks. You are based in or available to work remotely from Mumbai, MH, and you are eligible for full-time employment under the terms defined for this role. You are able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment where modernization programs demand precise execution and timely stakeholder communication.
