Product Engineer Intern, Agent Systems
Job description
About the role
Mactores is seeking an intern to contribute to the development of the Aedeon agent platform. You will work alongside senior engineers to build and verify components that power enterprise modernization through AI agents. In this role, you will own the implementation of critical software components that form the backbone of autonomous agent behavior. You will be responsible for ensuring that every action taken by these agents remains tightly coupled to the underlying source code for auditability. This position places you at the center of the decision logic that governs how AI agents operate in production environments. You will gain hands-on experience with the full lifecycle of agent software development, from initial design through verification and deployment. The work you perform will directly influence the reliability and transparency of enterprise AI systems. Your contributions will help define the standards for governed autonomy in modern cloud infrastructure.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop components for the Aedeon agent fleet, including parsers, extractors, dependency mappers, and test synthesizers.
- Study how agents interact with the Code Intelligence Graph to ensure all actions are traceable to source code.
- Observe governed autonomy stages such as shadow, supervised, and autonomous modes, as well as human-in-the-loop control mechanisms.
- Monitor how the team manages foundation models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google via the Aedeon Decision Model.
- Implement test-driven development for your assigned tasks.
- Create behavior-equivalence checks to validate agent outputs against expected results.
- Write test cases for functional flows and edge cases under mentor supervision.
- Utilize pytest and integrated CI/CD testing pipelines.
- Author clean Python code and manage pull requests.
- Maintain technical documentation in Confluence to ensure project continuity.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in Python demonstrated through personal projects, coursework, or previous internships.
- Interest in LLMs, agent frameworks, and software verification processes.
- Ability to adopt testing as a core development habit.
- Openness to receiving feedback on code quality and asking questions.
- Availability to work with a schedule that overlaps with US business hours.
Nice to have
- Experience with LangChain, AWS Bedrock, or comparable agentic AI frameworks.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
- Conceptual knowledge of graph databases like Neo4j or search engines such as Elasticsearch and OpenSearch.
- Experience with web frameworks like FastAPI or Flask.
