About the role
As the Director of Corporate at Lyft, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the legal and corporate governance landscape of one of the leading ride-sharing companies in the world. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in corporate law and governance, who can navigate complex legal frameworks while driving business objectives. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to ensure compliance with regulations and to support Lyft's mission of improving transportation for everyone. Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead the corporate governance function, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while aligning with Lyft's strategic goals.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate documents, including annual reports, board meeting minutes, and other essential filings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and compliance, to provide legal guidance on corporate matters.
- Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions, ensuring that all legal aspects are thoroughly evaluated and addressed.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and consultants, ensuring that Lyft receives high-quality legal services at competitive rates.
- Develop and implement corporate policies and procedures that promote ethical business practices and compliance with legal requirements.
- Conduct training sessions for employees on corporate governance and compliance issues, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
- Monitor changes in corporate law and regulations, proactively advising senior management on potential impacts to Lyft's operations and strategy.
- Support the Board of Directors in fulfilling its responsibilities, including preparing materials for meetings and ensuring effective communication between the Board and management.
- Lead special projects related to corporate governance, including initiatives to enhance shareholder engagement and corporate social responsibility.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations on legal risks and opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, mentoring junior legal staff and promoting professional development within the team.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in California or eligibility to become a member.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate law, with a focus on corporate governance and compliance.
- Proven track record of managing complex legal issues in a corporate setting, preferably within the technology or transportation sectors.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance best practices, securities laws, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing and mentoring legal teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
Nice to have
- Experience in the ride-sharing or transportation industry.
- Familiarity with international corporate governance practices and regulations.
- Previous experience working with a publicly traded company.

- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.
