About the role
Lucid Motors is seeking a Senior Feature Owner to guide the creation and release of L2++, L3, and L4 autonomous driving capabilities. You will focus on highway and urban driving automation, including hands-off and eyes-off modes, supervised and unsupervised operation, and driver monitoring integration. This position sits within the ADAS/AD team and spans the full product lifecycle from early concept through production launch. You will define the boundaries of what the vehicle can and cannot do in complex real-world scenarios. The role requires balancing ambitious automation goals with rigorous safety and regulatory constraints. You will act as the central technical authority for driving features across multiple vehicle programs. Success in this position depends on your ability to translate abstract automation concepts into concrete, testable product requirements. You will be responsible for ensuring that these features are not only innovative but also deliverable and reliable.

What you'll do
- Design, prototype, and ship L2++/L3/L4 driving features such as hands-off highway driving with DMS supervision, automated lane changes, highway merge and exit maneuvers, urban automation through intersections and roundabouts, L3 conditional automation with transition-of-control strategies, geo-fenced L4 highway pilot, and advanced longitudinal and lateral control on ODD-defined roads
- Own the complete feature lifecycle, delivering validated, production-ready capabilities on schedule while managing dependencies and risks
- Build and maintain feature roadmaps across multiple vehicle programs, gaining alignment from marketing, homologation, safety, and executive stakeholders to ensure strategic coherence
- Act as the customer advocate for L2++/L3/L4 features in all internal and external discussions, ensuring user needs and market demands inform technical decisions
- Write detailed feature definitions covering use cases, operational design domains, functional requirements, and performance KPIs to provide unambiguous implementation guidance
- Work with Functional Safety on HARA, Safety Goal definition, and SOTIF analysis for higher automation levels to systematically address potential hazards and unknown-unsafe scenarios
- Lead usability studies alongside UX/UI teams, concentrating on smooth handoffs between automated and manual driving to ensure driver readiness and trust
- Coordinate with Tier 1 suppliers and internal perception, planning, controls, and mapping groups to deliver new L2++/L3/L4 solutions that integrate seamlessly into the vehicle architecture
- Establish clear acceptance criteria for each automation feature to enable rigorous verification and validation before release
- Define test plans that cover nominal, degraded, and failure mode scenarios across diverse geographic and weather conditions
- Drive the development of simulation and closed-loop testing methodologies to validate feature behavior at scale
- Partner with data science teams to leverage fleet data for improving feature performance and expanding ODD coverage
- Prepare technical documentation and presentations for regulatory submissions and executive briefings
- Track industry standards and competitor capabilities to ensure Lucid's automation features remain competitive and compliant
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience transitioning ADAS/AD software features from L2+ assisted driving to L3/L4 conditional and highly automated driving
- Deep knowledge of higher-level driving automation systems, including their capabilities, limitations, and integration challenges
- Proven history of shipping ADAS/AD software features into production vehicles in a regulated environment
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional setting with ambiguous problems and evolving requirements
- Strong understanding of operational design domain definition and its impact on feature scope and safety cases
- Familiarity with functional safety processes such as HARA, Safety Goal definition, and SOTIF for higher automation levels
- Experience integrating driver monitoring systems with automated driving features to ensure appropriate driver engagement
- Knowledge of longitudinal and lateral vehicle control strategies and their tuning for different driving scenarios
- Experience with feature roadmap planning and stakeholder management in a complex automotive organization
- Commitment to maintaining traceability between requirements, tests, and safety analyses throughout the feature lifecycle
- Willingness to follow detailed procedures and standards while contributing to process improvement initiatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment
