Mechanical Superintendent

About the role

You will plan, schedule, and oversee daily field activities for industrial mechanical construction projects up to $10M in value. You will coordinate closely with craft supervisors and the project team to ensure alignment with contract requirements and project objectives. This role requires leadership in directing employees, monitoring progress, and resolving field issues that affect budget, quality, or schedule. You will support the Project Manager by facilitating communication and resource coordination across crews and subcontractors. You are responsible for verifying conformance of finished work and ensuring all safety and environmental standards are upheld. You will also contribute to forecasting, cost controls, and continuous improvement on the job site.

What you'll do

• Review project schedules with Superintendents and Foreman, ensuring critical activities and decisions stay on track for the project management team.
• Oversee field specific activities for industrial construction projects from initial setup through closeout, covering industries such as energy, power, mining, manufacturing, and pharma.
• Document project field issues that impact budget, quality, or schedule, and deliver timely reports to the project management team.
• Respond to subcontractor requests for information regarding field issues that affect budget, quality, or schedule.
• Supervise the daily work of employees, providing guidance, direction, and on-the-job coaching as needed.
• Verify conformance of finished work product, ensuring strict adherence to contract requirements and specifications.
• Ensure all safety and environmental requirements are met at every level of the project.
• Coordinate all labor, equipment, and subcontractor resources with project subordinates and other Loenbro companies to support timely, cost-effective project completion.
• Assure all employees within the team understand and follow company safety and work rules and policies.
• Ensure that all employees within the department receive proper training to operate assigned machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
• Assign work tasks and monitor job costs and overall performance, including monthly forecasting and variance analysis.
• Complete written reports on job progress, costs, and other matters as requested by management.
• Support planning and delivery of on-the-job training for team members to reinforce safety and quality standards continuously.
• Monitor the job site constantly to identify risks, ensure quality of work, and drive corrective actions when necessary.
• Work closely with all operational areas to identify and create new opportunities for Loenbro growth and efficiency.
• Review and provide feedback on the overall project schedule, collaborating with the Project Engineer to update and distribute information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Produce cost-based estimates in response to Requests for Proposals, aligning resources and pricing for Loenbro bid activities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management or project needs.

Requirements

• Must pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship at this time.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to perform the essential functions of this role.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must have a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance on previous assignments.
• Must have reliable transportation to meet project site demands across multiple locations.

Nice to have

• Engineering or Construction Management Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction of industrial and commercial projects.

Practical notes

This engagement may require extended hours, shift work, or overtime to meet project demands. Travel between project sites in Colorado, Montana, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and Oregon may be required. This position is subject to pre-employment and ongoing background checks, drug, and alcohol screening. Candidates must be able to perform duties in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain at construction sites.
