Sr. Mechanical Estimator
Loenbro, LLC seeks a Sr. Mechanical Estimator to join the Estimating group in Gilbert, Arizona. This position is full-time and classified as Exempt. The role reports to the Preconstruction Manager. The compensation for this position is $120,000.00 per year.
The Senior Mechanical Estimator serves as a key leader within the Estimating group. This professional is accountable for developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive mechanical construction estimates for complex industrial projects. The scope of responsibility includes projects valued up to $25M or higher, depending on scope and self-performance capacity. The role involves leading the complete mechanical estimating process. This encompasses quantity takeoffs, labor and equipment analysis, material pricing, subcontractor evaluations, and risk assessment. The position requires the interpretation of mechanical drawings, piping and equipment specifications, isometrics, and contract documents to construct detailed work breakdown structures and precise cost models.
Key Responsibilities
Project Estimation
You will lead the preparation of detailed estimates for projects reaching $50MM, accounting for complexity and self-performance scope. You will validate quantity take-offs and ensure accurate input into estimating software. The role requires the application of advanced cost analysis and contingency planning for risk mitigation.
Technical Expertise
You will interpret and analyze P&ID drawings and other technical documents. You will utilize HCSS HeavyBid software for accurate and efficient estimating. You will incorporate design methodologies such as DesignAssist and DesignBuild when applicable.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
You will represent the estimating team in client meetings, pre-bid conferences, and negotiations. You will communicate clearly with operations, procurement, and project management teams during pre-construction activities.
Process Management
You will develop and enforce estimating procedures, including pre-estimate checklists and opportunity matrices. You will oversee bid review meetings and ensure timely submission of RFIs and proposals. The role requires ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and company standards.
Strategic Contributions
You will provide pragmatic analysis of project execution to optimize efficiency and profitability. You will generate high-level cash flow projections, risk analysis reports, and resource-loaded schedules. You will support business development with conceptual estimates and ROM pricing for new opportunities.
Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations.
Requirements
You must hold a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. You must bring 3-5 years of estimating experience focused on mechanical or industrial projects. You must be able to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams alongside contract documents. You must have hands-on experience using HCSS HeavyBid for pricing and model development. You must understand design assist and design-build approaches within estimating workflows.
Nice to Have
Experience in critical mechanical, electrical, and structural scopes across large industrial work is preferred.
Skills and Tools
Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit is required.
