Job Summary

The Industrial Electrical Estimator will work with the Estimating team to deliver complete proposal packages for client turnover. The role focuses on estimating projects with a scope and size of up to $10 million, contingent on project complexity and the volume of self-perform work. The position requires a high level of accuracy and collaboration to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Estimate projects with a scope and size of up to $10 million, based on complexity and self-perform workload.
• Utilize Estimating software to generate quantity takeoffs and compile complete electrical estimates.
• Create and submit proposals to customers, effectively communicating scope and pricing based on estimate data.
• Perform material takeoffs for projects with a value of up to $100 million within a larger electrical estimating team.
• Attend pre-bid meetings to gather project details and clarify requirements.
• Read and understand all bid documents, including drawings, scope of work, contract documents, and project-specific specifications.
• Draft a pre-estimate checklist and opportunity matrix using information from bid documents and pre-bid meetings.
• Establish rough order of magnitude (ROM) pricing to enable rapid evaluation of opportunities.
• Set up bid review meetings to coordinate internal and external stakeholders.
• Review Request for Information (RFIs) to address questions throughout the bid process.
• Assign labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to the quantified task items.
• Support subcontractors and vendors by soliciting pricing, ensuring three quotations per trade or material are obtained.
• Understand project requirements to assign indirect costs accurately.
• Break projects down to a granular level to establish a work breakdown structure compatible with project reporting and coding.
• Generate all submittals required by the Request for Quote (RFQ).
• Compile all exceptions and clarifications received during the bid process.
• Generate project schedules and resource loading reports.
• Lead bid review meetings and provide necessary information to stakeholders.
• If a project is awarded, compile all bid information and disseminate it into appropriate project folder files.
• Lead project turnover meetings and collaborate with operations teams throughout the pre-construction phase.
• Apply pragmatic analysis of the overall project execution process to ensure estimates reflect efficient field practices.
• Learn from estimating and operations teams by attending trainings to continuously improve skills and processes.
