Area Manager - Water Solutions

About the role

You hold end-to-end accountability for the performance of your assigned water solutions territory in Phoenix, Arizona, guiding commercial decisions that shape project pathways and partnerships. Your primary responsibility is to translate Loenbro's regional strategy into concrete, actionable steps at the local level while maintaining unwavering focus on safety, quality, and financial outcomes. You will act as the key Loenbro stakeholder in your area, engaging directly with townships, utilities, and other critical stakeholders to identify and advance water infrastructure opportunities. This role requires you to foster strong relationships that support long-term project viability and community alignment. You will ensure that all activities within your scope strictly adhere to corporate standards and regulatory expectations. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving sustainable growth and operational excellence across the water solutions market segment. You will continuously assess project progress and market conditions to adjust plans and secure desired results.

Drive daily safety behaviors and ensure rigorous compliance across all water solutions projects in your territory.

Champion Loenbro's quality expectations, verifying that field teams execute work with precision and consistency to meet company standards.

Own profitability by analyzing bid results against actual project performance and implementing tactical adjustments to secure margins.

Focus market expansion efforts on water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, and water reuse facilities to unlock new opportunities.

Build and develop the regional team structure and capabilities to support sustainable area growth over time.

Coordinate with functional groups to align project schedules, resources, and reporting requirements seamlessly.

Forge strategic partnerships with townships and utilities to identify and secure new water infrastructure projects.

Track critical project metrics such as TRIR, DART, and margin data to provide insights that guide leadership decisions and strategy.

Ensure all project planning and execution activities are thoroughly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Implement proactive measures to manage risks and prevent issues before they impact project delivery or safety records.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges quickly and maintain project momentum in complex environments.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement by seeking feedback and integrating best practices into area operations.

Leverage data and field insights to refine bidding strategies and improve competitive positioning in the water sector.

Support the development and mentorship of team members to strengthen overall capability and engagement.

Requirements

You must possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or have equivalent practical experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge base.

You must have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in water solutions, engineering, construction, or a related industry.

You must have a proven track record of managing complex projects from initial planning through successful completion.

You must demonstrate strong leadership abilities and the capacity to guide teams in a dynamic and results-driven environment.

You must have experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with municipal entities, townships, and utility organizations.

You must be proficient in interpreting technical documents, specifications, and project requirements relevant to water infrastructure.

You must have a solid understanding of safety regulations and quality standards applicable to water treatment and infrastructure projects.

You must be willing to travel within the Phoenix area and potentially beyond to support project needs and stakeholder meetings.

You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks required in a field or project environment.

You must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license suitable for conducting business activities.

You must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for this position at this time.

You must have access to a reliable computer and high-speed internet to perform essential job functions remotely when needed.

You must be able to pass a background check and meet any client-specific requirements for site access or security clearance.

You must be comfortable working within a matrixed organization and navigating multiple priorities simultaneously.

Nice to have

Preferred experience in municipal water, wastewater, or water reuse facilities.

Familiarity with desalination plants, pump stations, and lift stations is advantageous.

Experience with stormwater management, civil infrastructure, and related earthwork is a plus.

Knowledge of industrial water systems and utility infrastructure is beneficial.

Understanding of distribution, transmission systems, and water storage facilities is preferred.

Experience with project controls, bid analysis, and margin optimization is highly valued.

Skills in using safety apps, tracking TRIR, DART, and EMOD are advantageous.

Ability to lead cross-selling initiatives and build long-term customer partnerships.

Experience in building and developing regional teams and mentoring junior staff.
