Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and implement personalized strength and conditioning programs tailored to the specific needs of athletes across different sports and performance levels.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of athletes' physical capabilities to establish baseline metrics and track progress over time.
- Collaborate with coaches and sports staff to integrate strength and conditioning protocols into overall training regimens.
- Monitor athletes during training sessions to ensure proper technique, safety, and effectiveness of exercises.
- Educate athletes on the importance of nutrition, recovery, and injury prevention as part of their training regimen.
- Develop and lead group training sessions, fostering a motivating and competitive environment.
- Stay current with the latest research and trends in strength and conditioning to continually enhance training methodologies.
- Utilize performance analysis tools and technology to evaluate and improve athlete performance metrics.
- Provide feedback and support to athletes, helping them set and achieve personal fitness goals.
- Maintain accurate records of athletes' progress and training sessions, reporting findings to coaching staff.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge.
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes teamwork, resilience, and a strong work ethic among athletes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in strength and conditioning coaching, preferably in a sports setting.
- Certification from a recognized organization such as NSCA (CSCS), ACSM, or similar.
- Proven ability to design and implement effective training programs for a variety of athletes.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics as they relate to strength training.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
- Experience working with athletes of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by training schedules.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in tracking athlete progress and program effectiveness.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in a related field or advanced certifications in specialized areas of strength and conditioning.
- Experience with injury rehabilitation and knowledge of sports medicine principles.
- Familiarity with performance analysis software and technology used in athletic training.
- Background in coaching or competing in a specific sport, providing insight into athlete needs and challenges.
- Experience in leading workshops or educational sessions for athletes and coaching staff.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using strength and conditioning equipment, including free weights, resistance machines, and conditioning tools.
- Knowledge of performance tracking software and tools for assessing athlete progress.
- Familiarity with nutrition and dietary planning as it pertains to athletic performance.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting performance data and making informed training adjustments.
- Ability to create engaging and informative training materials for athletes and coaching staff.
