Senior Cloud Architect
Job description
About the role
LivePerson is seeking a technical lead to manage network architecture and site reliability engineering for our global Conversational Cloud platform. You will design and maintain our GCP infrastructure while collaborating with SRE teams to improve system performance and security. In this capacity, you will act as the definitive authority on network topology and reliability for our cloud-native products. You will partner closely with distributed engineering groups to align infrastructure strategy with business objectives and operational needs. The position demands a proactive mindset focused on preventing complex infrastructure failures before they impact customers. You will leverage deep expertise to translate high-level product requirements into robust, scalable network solutions. This role is critical for ensuring that our conversational platforms remain performant, secure, and available at global scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and evolve the global GCP network backbone, specifying VPC designs, subnets, and routing policies to support conversational workloads.
- Engineer and maintain secure connectivity using Cloud Interconnect and VPN solutions, ensuring high-bandwidth, low-latency links between on-premises and cloud environments.
- Implement and optimize load balancing strategies using GCP load balancers to distribute traffic efficiently across microservices and endpoints.
- Configure and manage DNS ecosystems on GCP, ensuring reliable name resolution and traffic routing for public and private services.
- Codify all networking and security infrastructure using Terraform, enforcing version control, modular design, and automated validation processes.
- Diagnose and remediate complex connectivity, latency, and performance issues within distributed microservices architectures using systematic troubleshooting methodologies.
- Establish and enforce network security postures through the strategic application of firewall rules, VPC Service Controls, and granular IAM role assignments.
- Analyze traffic patterns and resource utilization to drive cloud networking cost optimization initiatives and improve operational efficiency.
- Apply rigorous reliability engineering practices, including capacity planning, incident response preparation, and error budget management to maintain service objectives.
- Partner with platform and application engineering teams during service onboarding to define and implement networking and reliability standards.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging GCP networking features to modernize infrastructure and support innovative product capabilities.
- Serve as a cross-functional liaison, translating technical network constraints into actionable guidance for development and infrastructure teams.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network architectures, configurations, and runbooks to ensure operational continuity and knowledge transfer.
- Champion automation and infrastructure-as-code principles to reduce manual intervention and increase resilience in network operations.
Requirements
- Bring a minimum of 10 years of cumulative experience in Cloud Architecture, Network Engineering, or SRE/DevOps roles within enterprise technology environments.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Google Cloud Platform networking services, including VPC, Cloud Interconnect, Load Balancing, and Service Networking configurations.
- Show extensive experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure automation using Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
- Exhibit strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Bash to develop scripts, automation tools, and custom utilities for network operations.
- Possess a deep understanding of distributed systems principles, including data consistency, network partitions, and latency implications in global deployments.
- Show proven ability in Linux troubleshooting, utilizing command-line tools and logs to diagnose system-level issues in production environments.
- Adhere to US-based residency requirements, ensuring compliance with legal and tax-related employment regulations.
- Maintain a strong commitment to security and compliance standards, applying network security best practices to protect critical infrastructure assets.
- Collaborate effectively within agile team structures, participating in code reviews, design discussions, and post-incident analyses.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders during planning and incident response activities.
