What you'll do

• Collaborate with engineers and architects to develop detailed designs for civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, and water systems.
• Conduct site assessments and surveys to gather data for project planning and design.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of project proposals, including cost estimates and timelines.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors during the construction phase to ensure project specifications are met.
• Monitor project progress and provide updates to project managers and stakeholders.
• Conduct quality control inspections to ensure that materials and workmanship meet required standards.

Requirements

• A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil engineering or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with project management software and tools.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable engineering practices.
• Certification as an Engineering Technologist (CET) or similar professional designation.
• Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their applications in civil engineering.
• Previous experience in municipal engineering projects or infrastructure development.

Skills & tools

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of civil engineering design software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
