What you'll do

• Lead and manage a team of depot staff, ensuring that all operational tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve depot performance, including optimizing resource allocation and workflow processes.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular audits and training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
• Oversee inventory management, ensuring accurate stock levels and timely replenishment of supplies.
• Coordinate with other departments, such as transport and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Manage budgets and control costs, identifying opportunities for savings without compromising service quality.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to contribute ideas and participate in process enhancements.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and career progression.
• Address any operational issues or challenges that arise promptly and effectively, maintaining a focus on solutions.
• Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on depot performance, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a leadership role within a logistics or distribution environment, ideally with at least 3 years in a supervisory position.
• Strong understanding of depot operations, including inventory management, health and safety regulations, and performance metrics.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and leading a diverse team.
• Proficient in using logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed for depot-related activities.

Nice to have

• Experience in the construction or utilities sector, providing insight into industry-specific challenges and requirements.
• Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies, contributing to process improvement initiatives.
• Previous experience with budget management and financial reporting.
