About the role

Kodem is seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team in Tel Aviv. This position is ideal for an experienced developer who is passionate about building robust backend systems and enjoys tackling complex challenges. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our backend architecture, ensuring scalability and performance to meet the demands of our growing user base.

What you'll do

Design and implement scalable backend systems that can handle high traffic and large volumes of data efficiently.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and designers, to define and refine project requirements.
Develop APIs that are robust, secure, and easy to use, ensuring seamless integration with various frontend applications.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
Conduct code reviews to ensure quality and share knowledge with team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, implementing solutions to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the evolution of our technology stack, staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements.
Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow their skills and advance in their careers.
Engage in agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely delivery of features.
Contribute to the development of automated testing frameworks to ensure the quality and stability of our software.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline deployment processes and improve CI/CD pipelines.
Assist in the evaluation and integration of third-party services and tools that can enhance our backend capabilities.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development, with a strong focus on building scalable web applications.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js, with a solid understanding of their ecosystems.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including but not limited to PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and experience in deploying applications in a cloud environment.
Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience in developing and consuming APIs.
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A passion for technology and a desire to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Nice to have

Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Familiarity with GraphQL and its implementation in backend services.
Knowledge of message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka for handling asynchronous communication.
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of backend systems.
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
