KIPP SoCal provides expanded learning programs after school, in summer school or through intersession learning opportunities. Expanded Learning Programs focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of KIPP SoCal students through hands-on, engaging learning experiences.

This Expanded Learning Program Instructor position features ample opportunity to develop your teaching and leadership skills. This role in particular allows you to build lasting relationships and create strong positive behavior support plans with students who have disabilities. The position is located in Los Angeles, California.

The engagement level is part-time with an immediate start.

The compensation rate is $23.76 per hour.

Role and Responsibilities

You will own the daily journey of students, guiding structured activities that build confidence and skills. This role centers on creating calm, consistent support for neurodivergent learners within group settings. You translate goals into actions while protecting dignity and safety.

Your daily responsibilities will include designing engaging stations that spark curiosity during after-school sessions. You will coordinate materials and schedules to support smooth transitions for small groups. You will observe and document student responses to adjust activities in real time. You will facilitate structured routines that reinforce social-emotional learning objectives. You will guide students with disabilities through multi-step tasks using clear, calm language. You will partner with families to align home strategies with school behavior plans. You will maintain organized records of attendance, progress, and communication notes. You will support enrichment blocks that blend academic practice with joyful exploration.

Requirements

You must hold a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.

You must complete fingerprinting and background checks as required by law.

You must bring three months of experience working with children or young adults.

You must understand confidentiality and professional boundaries in school environments.

You must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and move safely in school facilities.

You must have the patience to support learners with diverse behavioral needs.

You must communicate effectively with staff, students, and families in English.

You must commit to ongoing training on educational policies and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with special education strategies and individualized behavior plans is valued.

Familiarity with KIPP principles and school culture is appreciated.

Tools and Skills

You will utilize Microsoft Office.

You will work with Student Information Systems.
