What you'll do

• Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for comprehensive estimates.
• Develop detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead expenses.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to streamline the estimation process and ensure accuracy.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and gather data that may impact project costs.
• Prepare and present detailed proposals to clients, outlining the scope of work and associated costs.
• Monitor project budgets and financial performance, providing updates and recommendations to project teams.
• Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to enhance the accuracy of estimates.
• Assist in the preparation of bid documents and participate in the bidding process for new projects.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation for future reference.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to source materials and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Participate in post-project evaluations to assess the accuracy of estimates and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating or a similar role.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Certification as a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar credential.
• Experience with commercial construction projects.
• Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green construction methods.
• Familiarity with project management software such as Procore or Microsoft Project.
• Previous experience working in a fast-paced construction environment.
