What you'll do

• Develop detailed electrical design plans and specifications for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into overall project designs.
• Conduct load calculations and energy modeling to optimize electrical system performance and efficiency.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including drawings, schematics, and reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Utilize industry-standard software tools for electrical design, such as AutoCAD and Revit, to create and modify designs.
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise to address design-related inquiries and challenges.
• Perform site visits to assess existing conditions and gather information necessary for effective design solutions.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance design capabilities and project outcomes.
• Assist in the preparation of project budgets and timelines, ensuring that electrical design work aligns with overall project schedules.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers and interns, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from contractors to ensure compliance with design intent.
• Support the project management team in coordinating electrical design activities and resolving any issues that arise during construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.
• Proficiency in electrical design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including NEC and local building codes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Familiarity with energy-efficient design practices and sustainable building technologies is a plus.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with renewable energy systems, such as solar or wind power, is advantageous.
• Knowledge of building information modeling (BIM) processes and tools.
• Previous experience in project management or leadership roles within the electrical design field.
• Membership in professional organizations, such as IEEE or ASHRAE, is a plus.
• Familiarity with electrical analysis software, such as ETAP or SKM PowerTools.
