Staff Product Designer, Growth
Job description
About the role
You will frame and lead the highest-stakes, most ambiguous growth problems at Kin, problems that span multiple products and rarely arrive with a brief. You will set the vision for how Kin's products attach to each other, turning single-product customers into multi-product homeowners through a ground-up rebuild of the sales agent UI. In this senior individual contributor role with no direct reports, your impact will come from the quality of your thinking and the reach of your influence across the business. You will own the design vision for the sales agent UI, from problem framing through to a shipped experience that measurably moves agents faster and closes more effectively. Success will be defined by attachment and cross-sell moments that feel like one seamless journey, where customers move into their next Kin product without feeling like they are starting over with a new company. You will strengthen how growth tests and learns so wins compound instead of depending on any one person, and you will use AI tools as core enablement to move faster through exploration, prototyping, and craft work.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Frame and own the most critical growth problems that cut across product, acquisition, and retention, setting direction where the brief does not exist.
- Shape attachment and cross-sell moments so they feel like a single continuous journey for homeowners, reducing friction when they move to the next Kin product.
- Define how new products are introduced and sold alongside what a customer already owns, shifting focus from simple cross-sell to integrated product journeys.
- Own the end-to-end design vision for the sales agent UI, from problem framing through research, prototyping, and a shipped experience that demonstrably increases agent speed.
- Establish the craft standard for growth design and define what "good" means in this domain, creating clarity for product, engineering, and marketing.
- Bring design insight into strategy, roadmap, and prioritization sessions so that design thinking informs decisions before execution begins.
- Strengthen the growth experimentation system so that design learnings compound across tests and do not depend on any single person.
- Partner closely with data and analytics to turn insights into design decisions and to measure the impact of attachment improvements.
- Use AI tools as core productivity instruments to accelerate exploration, rapid prototyping, and high-quality visual and interaction design.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to turn ambiguous requirements into clear design intent and executable specifications.
- Lead stakeholder communication for high-visibility growth bets, aligning teams around outcomes, metrics, and shared ownership.
- Mentor and elevate the craft of adjacent designers, raising the bar for research, prototyping, and design systems across growth work.
- Define and own the narrative for the sales agent UI so that it communicates value, risk, and coverage gaps clearly to both agents and homeowners.
- Establish a repeatable playbook for shipping design into growth experiments, enabling fast cycles and reliable learning.
Requirements
- You have a track record of owning ambiguous, cross-cutting problems end to end and setting direction without a predefined playbook.
- You are comfortable operating in a fast-moving, remote-first environment where priorities shift quickly and clarity must be created.
- You have deep expertise in design thinking, research, and prototyping, and you can translate qualitative insights into clear product strategies.
- You have experience designing complex consumer products that must balance clarity, compliance, and conversion.
- You are fluent in design tools and can produce high-fidelity interactions, flows, and prototypes that communicate intent precisely.
- You have worked closely with data and analytics partners to measure design impact and iterate based on evidence.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can influence leaders, engineers, and product managers without direct authority.
- You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and documenting rationale so that others can follow your thinking.
- You have a history of improving key growth metrics such as attachment rate, conversion, or acquisition cost through design.
- You are committed to building systems and processes that outlast your involvement in any given project.
Nice to have
- Experience working with AI tools for exploration, prototyping, and production design workflows.
- Background in insurance, financial services, or other regulated consumer products.
- Experience building design systems and component libraries used across multiple products.
- Familiarity with sales operations, agent tooling, and call center workflows.
- Track record of mentoring designers and contributing to design operations at scale.
