About the role

You will own the strategic evaluation and enhancement of Spanish language arts lesson materials for K-8 learners. You will act as the central content authority ensuring that every lesson is linguistically precise, culturally resonant, and grounded in research. You will directly shape the instructional narrative by defining what is accurate, appropriate, and impactful for Spanish-dominant students. You will safeguard the integrity of the Spanish language in all its regional diversity while maintaining strict alignment with educational standards. You will translate complex linguistic and pedagogical frameworks into clear, actionable guidance for our design team. You will ensure that the learning journey reflects the realities of heritage language learners and emergent bilinguals. You will drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to deepen cultural responsiveness and instructional efficacy. What you'll do

• Conduct an initial analysis of scope and sequence to map the trajectory of Spanish ELA instruction across K-8 grade bands.
• Perform a comprehensive review of lesson components, including learning objectives, activities, and assessments, to verify standards alignment.
• Appraise the linguistic and developmental suitability of lesson design, vocabulary selection, and text complexity for each targeted grade level.
• Generate detailed, constructive, and implementable written feedback to guide content writers and instructional designers.
• Scrutinize the grammatical accuracy, syntactic correctness, and cultural authenticity of Spanish-language materials.
• Leverage deep content expertise to advise on Spanish literacy development, including phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and written expression.
• Guide the team on best practices for supporting Spanish-dominant, emergent bilingual, and heritage language learners at every stage of schooling.
• Champion cultural and linguistic responsiveness by evaluating the representation of diverse Latin American and Spanish-speaking communities and their varied dialects.
• Recommend research-based instructional strategies that strengthen Spanish literacy, biliteracy, and dual-language program design.
• Provide counsel on the thoughtful integration of Spanish and English language arts to foster balanced biliteracy development.
• Confirm that all Spanish-language content meets rigorous quality standards for accuracy, grade-level appropriateness, and adherence to linguistic norms.
• Ensure that lesson materials align with current guidance on Spanish language arts instruction and relevant state or national frameworks.
• Evaluate materials for clarity, coherence, and usability by teachers who may work across different levels of Spanish proficiency.
• Identify gaps in coverage, linguistic precision, or cultural representation and highlight areas needing further development or revision.
• Verify that instructional design supports equitable access and meaningful engagement for all students within the K-8 continuum.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Spanish literacy research and evolving best practices in bilingual education.
• Contribute to the creation of consistent, high-quality instructional experiences that reflect the values of equity and student growth.
• Communicate proactively with cross-functional partners to resolve content-related questions and elevate overall lesson quality.

Requirements

• Hold a Master's degree in Education, Bilingual Education, Spanish Language Arts, Linguistics, or a closely related field.
• Possess a bilingual or dual-language teaching authorization, such as a Bilingual Authorization, BCLAD, or equivalent credential.
• Demonstrate native or near-native proficiency in Spanish, both written and spoken, in all professional contexts.
• Have formal training in Spanish linguistics or language arts instruction is strongly preferred.
• Bring a minimum of 5 years of successful K-8 classroom teaching experience focused on Spanish language arts or dual-language instruction.
• Show a proven track record of implementing Spanish ELA standards and frameworks within elementary or middle school environments.
• Have direct experience in curriculum development, lesson review, or instructional coaching within bilingual or Spanish-language settings.
• Consistently apply evidence-based instructional practices that support Spanish literacy, biliteracy, and bilingual program models.

• Prior experience reviewing or developing curriculum materials for Spanish language arts instruction.

This is a contract role with remote work available anywhere within the United States. The position requires consistent engagement and reliable communication with the instructional design team.
