Welocalize is seeking a Spanish (Spain) Localization QA Tester / Proofreader for a long-term project based in Austin, Texas. In this role, you will ensure that Spanish (Spain) content feels natural, accurate, and polished for end users. You will review and refine localized material, focusing on grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, formatting, and cultural or contextual accuracy. This position involves hands-on testing, identifying localization bugs, and verifying fixes within internal systems. You may also translate English source content into Spanish (Spain) when needed.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
As a Linguistic Tester, you will bring Spanish (Spain) content to life and safeguard its quality from internal release to end users. Your work will ensure that each sentence reads smoothly, sounds native, and preserves brand meaning. You will follow structured testing instructions and test cases to evaluate digital products across web and app interfaces.
Key responsibilities include writing and reporting bugs and errors through the internal database system using established best practices. You will quickly understand and prioritize tasks and issues to maintain workflow efficiency. Your native-level Spanish (Spain) skills and cultural awareness will guide linguistic decisions and help resolve subject-matter questions. You will exercise strong oral and written communication while remaining highly organized and detail-oriented.
You will QA various products by following testing instructions accurately and discovering defects through client-specific bug-tracking tools. This includes evaluating translations within software, mobile apps, and documentation. You will act as a subject-matter expert for linguistic issues in Spanish (Spain), researching and resolving questions as they arise. Adherence to project-specific quality standards, trademarks, style guides, and client checklists will be essential. You will troubleshoot basic problems, communicate testing issues effectively, and escalate when necessary. Completing tasks with consistent quality and on schedule will be a core expectation.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, you must hold a valid visa permitting work in the USA and be able to attend the Austin office occasionally. Employment will be under W-2 classification, with benefits eligibility based on hours worked. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, including a one-hour lunch break, for 35 hours per week.
Ideal backgrounds include experience in marketing, journalism, copy editing, proofreading, writing, translation, and/or localization. Fluency in Spanish (Spain) must sound native in both speech and writing. You will manage multiple tasks without losing focus on accuracy and will follow precise testing instructions. Defects will be reported using client tools, and verification will occur after fixes are implemented. You will assess how translations behave within software and documentation and uphold project quality standards, style guides, and client checklists. Clear communication and the ability to escalate issues are required. You will complete assignments with reliable quality and timing.
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly rate for this position is $24. Additional pay and mileage reimbursement are provided for onsite work. The role is long term with no specified end date.
Benefits may include accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance. A telemedicine benefit is available, along with paid sick time, paid holidays, an employee assistance program, and internet reimbursement up to $25 per month. Following eligibility requirements, medical, dental, and vision insurance, an HSA, voluntary life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan may be available.
