What you'll do

• Design and analyze bridge structures using advanced engineering software and tools, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop project specifications, plans, and reports that meet client requirements and project timelines.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing bridge conditions and identify necessary repairs or upgrades.
• Prepare detailed calculations and documentation to support design decisions and project proposals.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to communicate project progress, address concerns, and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed bridge design drawings.
• Participate in the preparation of cost estimates and project schedules to ensure timely delivery within budget constraints.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in bridge engineering to enhance project outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
• Assist in the preparation of grant applications and proposals for funding bridge projects.
• Collaborate with local and state agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges, enhancing the overall quality of bridge designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in bridge design and analysis, with a strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
• Proficiency in using engineering software such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, or similar tools for bridge design and analysis.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including AASHTO, ASTM, and local regulations governing bridge construction and maintenance.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to solve complex engineering problems effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly to clients and team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe is preferred.
• Familiarity with project management principles and experience in leading engineering projects is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with bridge inspection and evaluation processes, including load rating analysis.
• Familiarity with advanced modeling techniques and software for bridge design, such as BIM (Building Information Modeling).
• Previous experience working with government agencies or in a consulting engineering environment.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices in bridge design and construction.
• Participation in professional organizations related to civil or structural engineering.
